Great "Big Bags",
By Michael B. Richman (Portland, Maine USA) - See all my reviews (TOP 500 REVIEWER) (HALL OF FAME REVIEWER) (VINE VOICE) (REAL NAME)
This review is from: Big Bags (Audio CD)
It's a real shame that so many classic OJC discs have been deleted recently, with Milt Jackson's "Big Bags" among the numerous casualities. The best aspect of this 1962 "orchestral" jazz album is the shear number of big name musicians that participate -- Nat Adderley, Ron Carter, Jimmy Heath, Hank and Philly Joe Jones, Connie Kay, James Moody, Jerome Richardson, and Clark Terry among others! Sure they all have small parts to play, and infrequent solos, but the sum of all those great contributors yields big magical results. Don't be left holding the bag if you don't buy "Big Bags."
