a pleasant surprise,

This is one of those games that I picked up out of the $20 or less bin in the electronics department. I was a little skeptical at first because it was really hard to get an idea of what the game was about just by looking at the case, and the description on the back didn't say much about it either. But the flashy design suckered me in and I'm glad it did!
The is a shooter-style game, similar to the arcade games of the 80's. And just like the arcade games of the 80's it's VERY addicting. Although the concept of the game is simple (use your stylus to shoot fireworks at enemies which appear on the top screen), the overall challenge as you progress from level to level is intriguing to the point that you don't want to put the game down. The game also encompasses a vibrant array of colorful graphics that are quite appealing. Each level displays a different theme with it's own set of visuals different from the other levels. As you advance through the levels, the game becomes increasingly harder, and you are introduced to upgrades to give the game plenty of variety. There are also bonuses when you complete each level and unlock modes based on your play-performance, so you get a lot out of the game in every aspect. This game is well worth the money spent and will keep you entertained for hours. Younger children might find it too hard once they get past the first couple levels, but there is no denying the exciting appeal this game will bring to anyone who picks it up.

This game is so much fun. I thought at first... how boring. You just hit and blow up things. Well the first level was easy and as I progressed, I found myself spending hours playing this game. My husband couldn't understand why I was addicted to this game. After he deleted my game (on accident) to make his own (which this is the only downfall to this game) he found it even more addicting then I did. He would take it to work with him, and he told me that he was stuck at a light and started playing, when the light turned green, he pulled over to finish the level. He takes it with him everywhere, and when I say everywhere, I mean it. Must have.

This game is a solid third-party offering for the DS. Good visuals, good music, basic, but engaging and strong gameplay.
As levels progress, you earn some temporary and some permanent upgrades, but in general, you are reliant on your own speed with the stylus for this game. Swiping the stylus for shooting, moving your piece to dodge return and ricochet fire, and navigating bonus puzzles at the end of each level. The Arcade mode progresses through increasingly difficult worlds and levels, with a change in abilities each world. There are 10 levels per world, and each is a few minutes in length, assuming you do not need to reply. For many, you will need to, however due to the length of each level this is not a serious frustration like it would be in most other games. There are high-score, relax, and mission modes after that. Gradual refinement and expansion of the basic gameplay as you progress, really keeps the game flowing naturally and enjoyably. The art style is bright, but not simply for kids. Each world has a distinct image and sound, and this polish really adds to the overall experience. There are some online functions, and local multiplayer, which are nice but not major components to this game. I would definitely recommend this game, and yes, if you order from Amazon you get the attractive lenticular packaging.

I was reluctant to buy this game due to the apparent simplicity. How much fun could it be just shooting off fireworks, right? It's one of the most highly rated games for the system though, and since I've tried to get a decent variety, I decided to give it a try. I'm glad I did.
The repetitive structure with increasing difficulty, and the graphics and music come together to create a very addictive game. It bears a close resemblance to arcade classics of old. Furthermore, it's the best game I've played that has a mandatory use for the stylus. I daresay that using the stylus in the majority of DS games comes with some degree of awkwardness. This game would feel awkward without it. If you're looking for a game you can easily pick up and play, this is it. Don't be surprised however if it's not as easy to put down.

I bought this game because I was curious after reading the reviews. I'm glad I did. It is simple to learn, and stunning graphics. I get a little dizzy watching it, but it really is a fun game and pretty unique. Cross between an asteroid type shoot-em up game and centipede... but with beautiful graphics.

I have 2 boys, a 4 1/2 and a 6 year old. This game is a little challenging but they learn how to play quite easily. The tough part is the learning of angles which they are getting better at.
by the way, it is a fun game for adults too.

Ok, I first purchase this game a month ago. I read the reviews and figured, how could I go wrong with this game. Although I am 40 something,
I still totally, totally love this game I can't stop. Its automatic addiction. I'm still working on it every chance I get. Do yourself a favor and give it a chance. It's totally worth the price of admission. Oh and I must mention that another reviewer suggested playing this in the dark. Great suggestion. I do, all the time... Enjoy!! (thanks for the tip)

This is a great game. It puts a new twist to old style shooters. There is an abundance of comedy and fun. The levels are great(especially Luxor) and the bosses are unique and difficult. This is a must have for classic gamers looking for games on newer systems.

Great game! Simple to learn, easy to start off, with some tricky later levels. Very well designed, though as the levels get harder, I'm focusing so much on the lower screen(navigating ship around debris & hurling countless shells) that the actual "show" taking place on the top screen can't be appreciated as much as when first starting out.

Every now and then on the DS, you'll come across a third-party title that delivers just about everything you're looking for, and provides for being an insanely fun game. Big Bang Mini is one such title, and it delivers in nearly every way one could hope. A psychedelic shooter that makes great use of the touch screen and stylus, Big Bang Mini oozes with style. The game's presentation and gameplay is reminiscent of shooters like Geometry Wars, with hyper shooting action and wonderfully animated 2-D graphics. The game controls fluidly, and there's 90 levels to blast through and a very fun multiplayer mode as well. The gameplay manages to stay fresh throughout the levels as well, with always-changing rules that keep things interesting and dynamic. Not to mention that all this is wrapped up in a bargain-priced package, and this game is a steal. All in all, Big Bang Mini is a must-play at the very least for DS owners looking for something different and fun, and even if 2-D shooters aren't your thing, give it a try, and you'll be pleasently surprised.
