Very entertaining!,

This review is from: The Big Bang: Notes from Looking Within (Paperback)
Even though the book is a little thin on character development, it is a very entertaining read! I literally read it in less than a day; I could not put it down. The story certainly makes you think . . . I especially loved the ending, well done!

I read this book sometime ago and gave it to a friend. If I had it on my shelf, I would read it again. It had great movement and I didn't want to put it down.

I loved this book. It is very fresh, unlike any other story I've read, extremely creative. I particularly enjoyed the spiritual aspect of the book and universal energy. I became attached to the characters. It was fascinating to join them as they examined life on other planets. I thought about the universe in ways I never had before. The book was stimulating, thought-provoking, and emotional. I highly recommend it.

Wow! Being a fan of both Edgar Casey and Carl Sagan, this is a book that appeals to me both spiritually and intellectually. Creating a universe and watching it evolve - how original! This story gives a new look on life. What fun!

The title first intrigued me, so I began this story which led me on a journey into a miniature universe of visual delight and captivating worlds. The reader is drawn in with the protagonist, who upon meeting a scientist, joins him in his experiment to recreate the Big Bang to replicate mini-universes. The reader is a voyeur along with the characters, as we moniter the progress of the civilizations on the planets. We also are involved with the scientist and his assistants and their ethical decisions about control. When observers learn to communicate with and recognize planetary beings the plot thickens and becomes even more fascinating. The reader becomes involved with the lives and fates of characters on many levels. I really couldn't put it down. I wanted to see what new technology, wisdom and ideas Matthews would create and how he would resolve the conflicts he presented. I love this author's mind! I highly recommend this book.

Great twist on an age old debate,

Does God exist? and if so, how could you prove it? Jason Matthews tackles this fascinating topic in his highly captivating first novel. In a creative and well-written style, he immediately engages the reader in an unusual experiment that is bound to make even a die-hard atheist questions his/her views. Though the novel is a fictional event, the book is filled with concepts and facts about science, physics and astronomy which are explained easily in laymans terms. The line-up of charcters are interesting and play off of each other well, providing good contrast bewteen ideas and attitudes about such a controversial subject. A great and stimulating read all around!!

Potential summer blockbuster movie,

This review is from: The Big Bang: Notes from Looking Within (Paperback)
This is a fine first novel - as big as the creation of the universe, as intimate as a young computer's wish to be a real live boy. The story is compelling - adventurous, funny, endearing and engaging. I quickly became absorbed in the story line and the characters and found myself caring about both. It is a good rollicking adventure that also weaves in personal growth and universal truths. If ever a book called out to be made into a summer blockbuster movie that would appeal to men for the techno-talk and the adventure, and to women for the emotional and spiritual underpinnings, this is it.

I enjoyed the book. It was a very interesting concept and it kept my interest and attention.
My rating of 3 stars can be explained by my feeling that only a classic should get 5 stars and 4 stars would be a really outstanding book. I did enjoy the book very much.
