5.0 out of 5 stars I got the BUG!
The BUG is back again! This is the best Cramps album since 1985's A Date With Elvis! Usually the Cramps put most of their best songs up front, so the album kinda runs out of gas. But this one comes back and pimp slaps you upside the head all over again! Loaded with great songs... I mean don't you want to know what Lux considers a "Wet Nightmare"? I only...

3.0 out of 5 stars Cramped out
I'm convinced that the Cramps are undead -- they really don't age, and they claw themselves out of the grave every couple of years to release another weird album. This album is pretty much the same as their previous few -- very good in places, but uneven. About half the songs are good, but the other half sound tired and wasted. The Cramps were a little better when they...

I only wish he'd come out with a lingerie line for men so I could look as sharp as him when I'm vacuuming the apartment. If you've felt somewhat let down by the last few, this one will reaffirm your faith in the almighty power of The Cramps, the funnest band on earth. Just put this one in your Discman and try walking normal.

3.0 out of 5 stars Cramped out, January 5, 1999

I'm convinced that the Cramps are undead -- they really don't age, and they claw themselves out of the grave every couple of years to release another weird album. This album is pretty much the same as their previous few -- very good in places, but uneven. About half the songs are good, but the other half sound tired and wasted. The Cramps were a little better when they sang more monster songs and strange covers and less deviant sex songs, but nevertheless they can still be witty and entertaining. "It Thing Hard On", "Like a Bad Girl Should", and "Wet Nightmare" are funny enough tunes to justify buying this record if you're a Cramps fan and want to keep your collection complete. However, if you're just getting into it you might want to buy some of their earlier stuff before trying this.

4.0 out of 5 stars Cramps - 'Big Beat From Badsville' (Epitaph), January 29, 2005
This review is from: Big Beat From Badsville (Audio CD)
Looks like 'Big Beat...' is the Cramp's tenth album, for it's very similar to it's predecessor 'Flamejob'.I've always liked this band for several reasons. What the new/old fan gets here is timeless psychobilly from a punk ensemble that first showed it's ugly face during the new wave music era, being the late '70's.One thing about the Cramps is,they change very little.Which in this case is a good thing.Tunes here I liked best were the in-your-face opener "Cramp Stomp","Sheena's In A Goth Gang","Queen Of Pain","Super Goo" and "Wet Nightmare".The tracks here seem to refer to subjects like violence, leather straps, old horror flicks and rough sex,as usual.Couldn't speak for anyone else, but I have no complaints here.A very decent CD.

5.0 out of 5 stars Badsville reconsidered...., February 17, 2009

After Lux Interior passed away on 2/4/09 I pulled this one out because it was the only Cramps CD I owned - I had everything else on vinyl or cassette, and my car only plays CD's. I'd only given it a listen or two when it came out - although I'd been a Cramps fiend since Gravest Hits, I thought that BBFB wasn't worthy - that it could have been recorded by any hard-rock band. Well, after ten or so consecutive listens this time around, I love this disc! True, it's not as good as their early stuff (what could be?), but if these songs with this level of musicianship were recorded by anybody else, this CD without a doubt would be considered the apex of their career. Lux's lyrics have never been funnier or more clever, but the hero as always is Ivy Rorschach and her incredibly great guitar playing - nothing else can bring a smile to my face like her sound. After she recovers from Lux's death, I fervently hope she will resume her playing career - she's just too good to quit making music.

This by far my favorite Cramps CD. It has some very Sexy songs on it. "Like a Bad Girl Should", track #4, is the best song when you want your girl to dance for you. Very SEXY!! The whole album is alot of fun!

2.0 out of 5 stars Great band, mediocre offering, April 3, 2005

This review is from: Big Beat From Badsville (Audio CD)
The Cramps are one of the greatest bands of all time, but this manages to be a below-par offering from the godfathers of Psychobilly. There is nothing new offered on this album, and all the songs sound like rejects from the debut. In end, this is a fun listen the first time, but it isn't as memorable or affecting as the group's earlier works. You probably won't take it out of it's case more than once. However, it is 97% better than anything else on Epitaph.

1.0 out of 5 stars SIMPLY BAD!, January 21, 2000
By
This review is from: Big Beat From Badsville (Audio CD)
The Cramps are one of my favorite bands but this CD is terrible. Just Lux and Ivy going through the motions. Very disappointing! Instead, I highly recommend that you check out Songs the Lord Taught Us (one of the best recordings ever--no bad songs on the original album), A Date with Elvis, Psychedelic Jungle/Gravest Hits, and Stay Sick in that order. Also see them live.
