Amigurumi on a larger scale,

This isn't a book for "easy amigurumi", rather, a book for larger scale crocheted toys. The principle is basically the same as amigurumi, but the toys are jointed and much larger than your tiny yarn animals. If you have never crocheted toys, I recommend that you first get the hang of it with some of the "easy amigurumi" books out there, otherwise you might get lost in the instructions. Not that they are difficult, but my eyes would start to water if I had to stick to every word. As for the toys themselves, they are cute, better than many I've seen in other books, which is why I rate this 5 stars. Good book if you need patterns, great book if you need ideas upon which to expand your own creations like I do.

I bought this crochet book for my sister (a new grandma). She didn't want to make the usual baby afghan and thought it would be fun to crochet animals and toys instead. Her work was so admired that now she makes the cute critters for all of her friends. The patterns aren't too difficult to understand and they work up fairly quickly. A definite hit for crocheters everywhere.

I didn't know that most of the patterns call for 2 strands of yarn. I tried the first toy with 1 and it didn't work out as well as the pictures. Working with 2 strands is harder for me. But the patterns are easy to follow if you are an experienced crocheter. Good toys, my grandchildren liked the ones I've made for them.

I made several of these crochet projects. I loved every one of them. The unicorn came out really nice and so did the rabbit. They looked just like the pictures!
