This beautiful, rythmic book is perfect for a child of any age. My son fell in love with it when he was only 4 months old. He still reads it daily. This book is a treasure!

This has been my daughter's favorite book for the last month, and there is no sign of it ending. She will search through her shelf of books and somehow find this one to pull out. And I'm going to give away the ending... It has a really nice mirror on the last page - she loves to stare at herself and then flip back through the pages to the other babies. She loves it so much that I am about to buy a second one - a couple of the pages are already tearing! A must have!

Every child from infant to emergent reader will love it!!,

We have had this book from infancy, Quinn is now two years old and still requests the "baby book". The rhymes, multicultural pictures, and surprise at the end make this an enjoyable book for us all to read. This has become our standard baby gift and is much loved by all who recieve it.

Special for being you,
This review is from: The Big Book of Beautiful Babies (Hardcover)
You don't have to be an infant to love this book, as becomes clear from the delight it gives one 12-year old we know and love. But there's something very fetching about infants, even for kids bordering on adolescence. In this case, the book may operate as something of a replacement for baby pictures that don't exist, since the child was adopted well past toddler-hood. But the 28 pages of huge black and white photographs of infants are also in themselves a great draw, what with feet, hands, faces, and bare bottoms all thrown together with a 65-word poem, and a full-page mirror for the baby (or child) to see himself. For infants and older kids, the message is terrific: you're special for being you. --Alyssa A. Lappen

My Daughter's Favorite!,
By "radicalhomeschooler" (New York, New York United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Big Book of Beautiful Babies board book (Board book)
My daughter is eleven months old and for several months now this has been her favorite book. She is enamored with all of the baby faces and looks carefully at each one as we slowly turn through the pages. The black and white photography in this book is excellent and the simple rhyming cadence of the words is perfect for babies. Usually I bring several books at once to read for her and as we read other books she glances over at this one laying closed next to me as if she wishes we could read it over and over.

This book is pretty good, but if you practice Unconditional Parenting there is one revision I made to the text. On the pages that said "baby happy, baby sad, baby good, baby bad" I changed it to "baby happy, baby sad, baby looking, baby glad.
If you don't know what's wrong with calling a baby who is sitting still "good" and a curious, exploring baby "bad", please read Unconditional Parenting. thanks!

This book thrills my two month old. We go from cover to cover over and over again before he tires of looking at the pictures. He clearly enjoys it more than any other board book we have shown him. I also like the multi-cultural aspect of the book and the variety of expressions on the babies' faces. As the coordinator for a home visiting program for families with new babies, I am ordering copies to give as a gift to our parents.

As a retired Children's Librarian who used this boook with many children, I can attest to the fact that it is a winner. Each page has a photograph of darling babies in various poses. The last page has a mirror and the baby can see himself or herself. This is the perfect gift for the new baby and parents. Children enjoy the photos, in black and white which are age appropriate, and the short text. Read and enjoy.

Good beginner book for babies 4 months and younger,

My 2 month old daughter liked looking at the black and white photos of the babies. Young babies top two things to look at are black and white pictures/patterns and pictures of faces. This book has put the two together. Recommended to buy for those who are pregnant or have a young child.

Our Baby Loves this Book,
By anne (NZ) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Big Book of Beautiful Babies board book (Board book)
I brought this book back from the library to read for our then 10 month old. After about two - three reads of the book she loved it. It is a great book to read to your baby as the words are simple, strong, and follow a lovely rhyming pattern eg "baby happy, baby sad, baby good, baby bad." The pictures are all of young babies and the book is very easy and sturdy for our baby to turn the pages herself while I read to her. At other times she reads the book herself, turning the pages and looking at the pictures. She loves the last page with the mirror, looks into it, and kisses it. Although I am getting sick of reading this book our daughter certainly isn't it and it is now 3 months on. In summary rhyming is good, pictures good, nice and simple, easy to turn pages a winner in our family.
