5.0 out of 5 stars Something for everyone
You don't have to hate President Bush to like this book! Granted, most of the cartoonists are liberal and take their best jabs, but the humor in the irony that permeates politics transcends party affiliation. The conservative cartoonists are outstanding, too! With this book, Cagle continues the great job he does every day with his world-famous website. IMHO, anyone who...

I was disappointed in the quality of the cartoons. Sorry, but I had expected some from the top-flight editorial cartoonists of America. These seem to be confined to one service. You won't want to use this review, I'm sure.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Cartoonists' Perspective of the Bush Trainwreck, November 7, 2005
By
Foof (Australia) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The Big Book of Bush Cartoons (Paperback)
The best political cartoons have a core of truth covered in a thick hide of satire. This is certainly true of this collection put together by Daryl Cagle and Brian Farrington. There probably aren't a lot of people in the world today who find George W. Bush and his minions inspiring in any way whatsoever. Editorial cartoonists are the exception. Bush and co are mercilessly skewered from "go" to "whoa" by cartoonists not only from the USA but also from Canada, Australia, South America and Asia. And that's what makes this volume a better buy than some of the other cartoon collections available which tend to focus on only toons from the USA and Canada. This book gives a world perspective on how Bush and his buffoons are perceived across the planet. There are also conservative cartoons for the minority who still worship at the Bush altar. A great collection from the finest cartoonists in the world today. Something for Scooter and co. to peruse after a long day making license plates and sowing laundry bags.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Highs and Lows of the Bush., March 11, 2006
This review is from: The Big Book of Bush Cartoons (Paperback)
If you wish a whimsical history of the Bush presidency, choose THE BIG BOOK OF BUSH CARTOONS! THE HISTORY OF THE BUSH PRESIDENCY IN CARTOONS! Editorial cartoons gained from the best political cartoonists contribute a diversity of drawing, perspective and focus in revealing the history of Bush's interactions around the world, from his initial hanging chad election to the war in Iraq. Black and white cartoons are as large as a full page, while others are four to a page: all provide fun commentary those with a sense of humor and interest in social and political issues will appreciate.

5.0 out of 5 stars Hilarious with great editorial cartoons, August 5, 2008
This review is from: The Big Book of Bush Cartoons (Paperback)
Biting satire is the name of the game in this book. The cartoons are brilliantly portrayed and are the best of the year from a variety of cartoonists from all over the country. I have several years worth and these are really collectors items in many ways portraying politics and many other topics too. (if you are for Bush don't read this book- you won't like it). Being a Bush basher , I love it!

5.0 out of 5 stars Bush Bashing At Its Best!, November 7, 2005
This review is from: The Big Book of Bush Cartoons (Paperback)
Another funny book from Cagle Cartoons! It's great to see another celebration of this unique (and dying) art form. Plus it's a great subject for the cartoonists to pick on.

1.0 out of 5 stars Not so fast..., November 18, 2005
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: The Big Book of Bush Cartoons (Paperback)
This book highlights the author, his boyfriend and a few other cartoonists, leaving out the giants (Oliphant, Toles, Danziger, Conrad, Sack, etc.) in the field. Skip this one and wait for the Best of 2005/6 (which, alas, is also to be edited by Gagle leaving the numerous repetitive contributions in question as to their relevance under the banner "Best".

The satire in the book is very good... the man in the White House at the moment cannot speak any more that two sentences at a time....
