Find the answers you need for a successful job search in this all-encompassing volume

As a job seeker, you have more questions than answers: Does my resume really highlight my job skills? Am I resigned to low-paying jobs because I don't have a degree? What field shows the most growth opportunity? How much can I make?

Finally you have one source to go to for these critical answers. The Big Book of Jobs combines a concise overview of the job-search process with all the latest government statistics on more than 250 jobs. Whether you are a recent graduate just entering the job market, a work veteran looking to change careers, or just keeping watch on your own job's future, The Big Book of Jobs offers everything you need to make informed choices about your career.

The book is divided into two parts. Section one, "The Job-Seekers Guide," offers proven advice and strategies for job-search success in any field; section two, the "Occupational Outlook Handbook," provides data on hundreds of positions that represent roughly seven out of eight jobs in today's economy.

In "The Job-Seekers Guide," you'll find advice on:

  • Choosing a career path
  • Building career management skills
  • Researching careers in the information age
  • Writing effective cover letters and polished resumes . . . and more

The "Occupational Outlook Handbook" offers you all the latest statistics on hundreds of positions, including:

  • Job descriptions
  • Working conditions
  • Employment trends and outlooks
  • Training, qualifications, and advancement
  • Salary ranges . . . and more

More About the Author

Barbara Spencer Hawk owns Crossbridge Communications, LLC, a company that develops communication solutions designed to boost sales, improve performance and facilitate growth. Crossbridge strategies and tools have created more than $320 million in bottom-line impact, based on client-provided data.

She is the author of "What Employers Really Want" and "The Job-Seekers Guide" (Big Book of Jobs). She routinely tackles topics ranging from executive development to marketing and sales strategies, audiovisual technologies, IT, Lean innovation, technical education, advanced manufacturing, parts cost reduction strategies, industrial fluids and coolants, and high-precision machining.

"I think of it as English-to-English translation," she says. "My goal is to transform complex concepts into simple, clear and useful information. It's fun, because every day I get to learn something new and challenging."

She is a regular speaker at business events and a popular presenter of practical ways to write for the real world. "When I walked in the door, my writing skills were a one, on a scale of one to five," says one participant. "By the end of the three-day workshop, my skills were a solid four. That's incredible!"

She has appeared more than 30 times on the national radio program, The Career Clinic, and she is working on a book to share insider tips and fast, easy strategies for writing better, right now.
