As a Parsons School of Design May 2010 graduate, I felt this book was extremely disappointing. I bought The Big Book of Layouts as a gift for a friend who makes layouts for a living and thought it was extremely disappointing. The designs inside are for the most part unoriginal and boring. I was expecting innovative and unique layouts that would be inspiring, but instead I got layouts that look as if they were made on a Microsoft program. Avoid purchasing this book at all costs.

Although it sounded like an interesting book, initially I bought it with high expectations; and it did not disappoint me at all. With bright pictures, crisp graphics, great layout is reassuring: I know I have a reliable source to go back to anytime I feel clueless!

I would recommend this book to anyone stuck in a rut, looking for excitement and challenge.

The art school I go to was always referring to this book, and I saw a friend of mine drool over it while at Barnes and Noble. I think it's definitely worth the cash, and a fantastic reference tool. There's a little bit of older, outdated work in there, but overall the book is great.
