Editorial Reviews

From the Back Cover

Your round-trip ticket to the strangest, wildest, wackiest, most outrageous, and most unusual
people, places, and things New England has to offer!

Whether you’re a born-and-raised New Englander, a recent transplant, or just passing through, The Big Book of New England Curiosities will have you laughing out loud as we pull back the curtain and present the lighter side of New England—the zany, funky, head-scratchingly eccentric face of this supposedly buttoned-down part of the United States. It will take you places you never could have imagined, some of them right around the corner!

•  In Connecticut, take a look at the Village of the Damned.
•  In Massachusetts, visit America’s oldest pet cemetery.
•  In Maine, meet a chain-saw sculptor who can carve the entire alphabet on a No. 2 pencil.
•  In New Hampshire, discover a rehab clinic whose patients have been “loved to pieces.”
•  In Rhode Island, learn the story behind the grand edifice that Providence residents call the “Superman
   Building.”
•  In Vermont, visit America’s only covered bridge museum (itself a covered bridge).

my husband likes this book about where we live and never knew the interesting facts. Makes a great gift for someone who is hard to buy for. I too found it very interesting myself. The price was so great I bought two!

3.0 out of 5 stars Not really a travel book..., August 7, 2011

This contains a lot of interesting information on Boston but didn't really provide many places that you could actually visit.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Must For Anyone Who Loves Boston, April 7, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I've lived in Boston for almost nine years, and love its oddball history. But Boston Curiosties has helped me learn even more about my crazy adopted city. I use it as a guide book to find new places to explore.
