Not as expected,

This is not what i expected from researching it online. The collection of songs is wonderful, but the music itself is far more difficult than the snapshot view of the music led me to believe. This is the music style with three rows of staff - two treble and one bass clef. For an advanced or maybe intermediate player it would be fine, but for more of a beginner it's too challenging to decipher.

Has it all, but it is BIG!,

Working in geriatrics? This book is for you. But, as wonderful as it is for vocals, Guitar, and keyboard (who could ask for more), bear in mind this is a BIG BOOK for a music stand. Buy the book, work from the copy. This book really does have it all except for some great old World War II era songs which the author has in another "Big" volume. This is the best for those working with the older generation as well as all other generations for fun.

The book has a splendid assortment of songs but it is so thick it is virtualy impossible to use. You cannot use it to play the piano.

Great but thick,

This is book is filled with great old music.
The setting is easy to read, intermediate level notes. Opposed to other easy/intermediate note books, this book seems to be closer to the setting of the original sheets, which I like. Often easy/intermediate-marked sheet music is changed to the worse. The sheets that I've compared with the originals are only somewhat simplified. It's true that this book is hard to handle because it's too thick, but don't think it should affect the total grade on this excellent compilation of early 20th century music (possibly some music is from the 1890's as well). |
