Diane Ohanesian wrote her first "book" in second grade, when her encouraging teacher, Mrs. Zwelling, kept her after school in order to show her movies which she stopped before the ending, so that Diane could write them herself! A perfect training ground for a writer- to- be!
Diane's first book happened with a lucky break. As a novice writer, she collaborated with a very talented illustrator, Susan Miller, on a book titled "Can You Find Sadie?" Breaking all the publishing rules, they hopped on a train, knocked on the door of the editor-in-chief of one of the most prominent publishing houses in NYC, and sold the book on the spot! (Unfortunately, it has not been nearly as easy since!)
