Early Janis Joplin Shines Here...,
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Big Brother & the Holding Company [Vinyl] (Vinyl)
Sundazed has re-issued the very first officially released recording of Rock-Blues Legend Janis Joplin. Big Brother & The Holding Company recorded their album in 1966. It wasn't released until 1967 after the group & Janis received awesome reviews at the Monterey Pop Music Festival in June 1967. The album was originally released in stereo & mono. The mono version sounds much better than the stereo version. This is the version that has been re-issued. Janis shines with fellow members Dave Getz (drums), Sam Andrew (guitar), Peter Albin (bass) & The late James Gurley (guitar). The songs range from countryish (Bye, Bye, Baby) to Folky (Down On Me). It is a bit raw but this is what made Big Brother shine in concert. I think the recording studio kinda took away the majic that was captured in their live shows. I highly recommed this album!
