Complete Low Impact work-out!,
By A Customer
This is an excellent low impact work out. I am just starting out exercising and losing weight and I have 2 bad knees, this work out is perfect and I have never once been sore after doing it. There is a 20 minute stretch, a 30 minute aerobic work out with very simple moves that you can do the first time you watch it, then 5 minutes of floor exercises (leg lifts and crunches), and a 5 minute stretch at the end. The instructor Valerie is very good, better than any other video I have tried and her group called the "big butts" are just ordinary people and not some size 1 bimbos you can't stand to watch. I highly recommend this for people like me who are just starting out on their way to getting fit.

Not for the complete novice,
By Infrequent reviewer (Florida, USA) - See all my reviews The people in the workouts showed a range of flexibility and body types that helped me not feel alone with my own big butt, and this was the first workout video I've tried, so it didn't seem boring. The stretches where most of the weight was put on one knee were painful, although brief. My problem came when I tried to follow along with the cardio workout. Within the first 10 minutes, there are three times where the workouts change to new steps, and the cameras stay focused on the smiling faces, rather than showing what they're doing. This lasts for the first one or two repetitons, so by the time the camera finally shows what you're supposed to do, the workout is wrapping it up and moving on to another step. The third time this happened, I stopped the video -- and stopped yelling at my television to "Show me the feet!" This workout may well be a good one, but if you're not familiar with the jargon of yoga or aerobics, you might want to watch it through first without participating, so you'll see what they mean. I will not give this video another try. It's going to the next yard sale, with a big note on it warning buyers of the problems.

Excellent Work-Out for the Rest of Us!!!,
By Bayou Child (USA) - See all my reviews The low impact is great, and I'm able to do all the steps, even though I'm very out of shape. It's short and easy, and super-friendly. I highly recommend it to everyone who wants to exercise more, is overweight or out of shape, or is a more mature or older person. The people doing the video are just ordinary folks dressed in ordinary sports clothes. The kind of people who might be your next door neighbors or your friends from work. All shapes and sizes, both male and female, and all colors of skin. Nice! The only fault with this video: The camera-work is not optimal in certain places. That's the only small fault of this excellent video. The camera tends to show the faces every once in a while when they are starting a new routine instead of showing the foot and body work. In those few spots, you are not sure what steps they are doing the first time you see it. But if you do the workout a few times, then you know what to do from the verbal cues. I hope that Valerie and the Big Butts will do another video very soon! And of course, I hope they will correct this camera problem, which is only a minor flaw and only occurs in a few moments. The video is otherwise wonderful! Some other plusses +++ of this video/DVD: The video is shot at a Daytona Beach outdoor pool with the ocean and beach right behind the group. It's a sunny day and uplifting to watch - so much better than those videos shot indoors. You really feel you are in the sunshine at the beach while you are doing the workout! Another thing I love about this video is that they use a very non-invasive musical beat in the background for the rhythm instead of songs and popular music. I like this because I've never liked having popular songs whirling around in my head all day long. The background rhythm on this video is enough to keep you in step, but it does not intrude into your consciousness and does not stay with you all day long (thank goodness!). Some people may prefer popular songs to do aerobics with, but that is an aspect of aerobic classes and videos that I always disliked. I like the cardio portion more than the stretching portion, but it's easy to just select the cardio workout. One comment: It appears that many people who view this video on the Amazon pages are looking for X-rated stuff. This video is NOT X-rated or anything of the kind!! The title "big butts" is just something funny, and the video has no sexual or suggestive images whatsoever. It's a very appropriate video for everyone. It's G-rated all the way!! In conclusion: This workout is so easy that you can do it every day of the week! And it is SUPER effective for beginning a new work-out program. I'm so happy to have found something to replace the long walks that I once took. I still go for a long walk once a week when I get out to a nature preserve and on soft trails. And this video gets me through the rest of the week. So I give this video/DVD a full 5 stars with no reservation. If you are an advanced aerobics student or athlete, this video may be too elementary for you. But if you are just an ordinary person who needs something to get going, try this video!

big butts hit the beach,

I recently started working out for the first time in 20 years (I HATE exercising). I made the choice to get moving again and regain my strength and flexibility. I am so glad I purchased this tape...it really is fun! The good thing about it is that it's not confusing (jumping around, changing directions every 2 seconds)and you can move at your own pace. The instructor is very easy to follow and never annoying. Give it a try...I think you'll like it too!

Great Exercise Video!!,

This is a fantastic workout video. It is full of easy-to-learn exercises set to upbeat music. All of the exercises are rather easy, however they are put together in such a way that will get your heartrate going and your sweat flowing. Not only are the exercises great, but all of the people in the video who are doing them are "normal" looking people, some of whom are working out for the first time. This is one of my favorite workout tapes!

Finally, a workout video for real people. You don't have to be a star athlete or an expert dancer to keep up with this video. YOu also don't have to have an entire workout studio. All you need is 1. a VCR, 2. a living room with a coffee table pushed to the side, and 3. the desire to lose weight and get in shape. It's fun, it's easy and it really works!

Boring,
By A Customer
I liked the fact that the people in this workout were of different sizes. Is is refreshing to see "real" people, however I found this a very boring workout. I don't think I would be able to do it more than once or twice.
