Scholars and journalists look at the factors that have changed the nature of the profession -- or at least the practice -- over the past decade. They include the influence of corporatization, changing public perceptions, the effects of tabloid television, ethical and legal issues raised in the media environment, the treatment of minority groups, and the use of the newest technology.
