WHAT HAPPENED?, November 15, 2008
This review is from: The Big Chill - Original Motion Picture Soundtrack Plus Additional Classics From the Era (Audio CD)
I notice there are many good songs on this CD, but how come that song by the Rolling Stones "You can't always get what you want" is not included on the Big Chill soundtrack? Gee, that song was in the beginning of the movie and a great opening for that film. So what happened?

This soundtrack has so many great songs, it would be hard to find something similar with all these classics.

Nice collection, but missing a few tunes, December 14, 2011
This review is from: The Big Chill - Original Motion Picture Soundtrack Plus Additional Classics From the Era (Audio CD)
So seeing as the Amazon listing does not contain the track list, I will include it here.
1. I Heard It Through The Grapevine - Marvin Gaye
2. My Girl - The Temptations
3. Good Lovin' - The Rascals
4. The Tracks of My Tears - Smokey Robinson & The Miracles
5. Joy To The World - Three Dog Night
6. Ain't Too Proud To Beg - The Temptations
7. (You Make Me Feel Like A) Natural Woman - Aretha Franklin
8. I Second That Emotion - Smokey Robinson & The Miracles
9. A Whiter Shade of Pale - Procol Harum
10. Tell Him - The Exciters
11. It's The Same Old Song - Four Tops
12. Dancing In The Streets - Martha Reeves & The Vandellas
13. What's Going On - Marvin Gaye
14. Too Many Fish In The Sea - The Marvelettes
Song 11 - 14 were not actually in the movie (They are the "Additional Classics From The Era").
This is a nice collection of songs from the time period and lean away from the more classic rock type songs from the time which makes it a little different from many of the other movie soundtracks that have songs from this time period.
That said, I would agree with one of the other reviewers that the inclussion of the Stones song would have made this more complete since it would have capped off the fact that listening to these songs can easily invoke scenes from the movie. That last point is why I would give this a 4 star.
If you are looking for a compilation of songs from the time, there may be other, better, places to go. If you love the movie and want to put something on your radio to keep those memories flowing - this is your ticket.
