...First, this is more of a 'jazz' cd than a pure'swing' cd,but Veronica's vocals are strong and emotional throughout--Her singing 'style' sounds like a blend of Pat Benatar and Janis Joplin,with a hint of "Ella" here & there--it's a good album for a debut in the cd format,although I have a quibble with the engineer putting her voice a bit too far 'forward'on a couple of the 'slow' songs...The backup band is first-rate,and overall, this DEBUT cd is better than a LOT of the Pop out these days...3-1/2 stars out of 5--a '5' being Fitzgerald's" Clap Hands" album or my two Alberta Hunter LP's. Favorite songs on this cd: Me,Myself and I, and Big City Swing. Good job,Ms Martell! Looking forward to cd # 2---

Absolutely great sound. Big band and a great and big voice. It's a pleasure to hear new renditions of some old great charts.

A fantastic debut album. Miss Veronica Martell's voice is "world-class" and the band is doing their job as it should be done. It is an album which can be played over and over again. Look forward to follow this Big City Swing band in the future.

This is a hot swinging CD! A beautiful lady with a beautiful voice is backed by a great sounding band. Most of the songs are covers, but she does such a wonderful job on them they seem fresh. If your into the swing thing, you need this CD.

I buy a lot of swing/jazz records and most of them are in the "listen once and file" category. "Big City Swing" is a giant exception to this rule. I have happily listened to this CD over and over. Veronica's vocals are downright soothing and the band that backs her up has the power to support such a strong vocal lead. I don't usually recommend new CD's since I buy mostly classic 1930's and 40's music, but "Big City Siwng" hits the mark! Get this CD if you're into great swing music with a jazzy edge! In other words.....it rocks!

Bring a pail of water, this cd is on fire. Veronica's voice is like butter, a modern day Billie Holiday. She can melt your heart with the love songs. All that and a big bag o chips. You go girlfriend....

This cd smokes . The band is killing with Veronicas sultry vocals up front. Great arrangements and world class soloists. A must for swing and jazz fans.
