5.0 out of 5 stars Great book for young children
I was really happy with the purchase of this book. My 20 month old son is getting ready to be moved into another room and a big boy bed to make room for his new brother. 2.0 out of 5 stars Not much to it
I was very disappointed when receiving this book. It is only about 5 pages long! There is very little text as well. The illustrations are ok, but nothing special. It doesn't last long enough to get my 20-month old interested. She will glance through it for about 10 seconds and toss it aside. This is from a kid who LOVES to read.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great book for young children, April 15, 2004

I was really happy with the purchase of this book. My 20 month old son is getting ready to be moved into another room and a big boy bed to make room for his new brother. Most of the books that I have found on this subject have been a little too detailed for my son. This board book breaks the transition down is simple statements that young children can relate to. Example "Elmo slept in a crib when he was a baby but now he's ready for a big kid's bed." "Elmo knows that sleeping in a big kid's bed will feel different than sleeping in a crib." Etc...

It even has Elmo with his favorite doll, David, and his favorite blankie. My son sleeps with a blankie and therefore can identify with Elmo even more. The pictures are colorful and engaging. Well done!

5.0 out of 5 stars Short and simple book., December 9, 2004
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Big Enough for a Bed (Sesame Street) (Board book)
My 2 year old had a hard time transitioning from his crib to a toddler bed. I started reading this book and Barney's Going to My Big Bed book. The Elmo book was short and simple. It was perfect for my 2 yr old's attention span. The Barney book, which is 16 pages long, dragged. My son enjoyed this Elmo book. I read him this book almost every night for about 3 weeks before I put him down to sleep in his bed. He now sleeps comfortably in his toddler bed.

5.0 out of 5 stars Short and sweet, and gets the point across, August 16, 2005

With easy to relate to pictures of Elmo transitioning from being a baby asleep in his crib, to picking out his own set of sheets for his "big kids' bed" and then cuddling in with his favorite blankie and stuffed toy, this book was just the best for helping my 2 and a half year old sleep in her own bed.

Since Elmo is her favorite, she likes to imitate him, so the first time we read this story together, she pointed to him sleeping in his own bed, then motioned for me to place her in hers! On the last page, she always whispers, "Good night, Elmo, I love you," which is how we always say goodnight.

Though it has very few pages and simple one sentence text, not much more is needed at this age to engage your child's interest and get the message across in a way they can understand.

Highly recommended. I also suggest TOO BIG FOR DIAPERS with Ernie as the star showing off his new potty training skills.

I read this to my 2 year old when I wanted him to start sleeping in a big boy's bed. I couldn't believe how easily this book helped with the transition. With everthing that elmo did in this book, my son could do/ have too. I showed him elmo's pillow, sheets, and lovey's and then showed my son that he has his pillow, chose his sheets, ect..too and said that "he was just like elmo" what was another great bonus is that in this book, elmo has no binkie in his mouth - so, when it was time for that stage to happen - this book became my greatest reference! Now, I am about to have a new baby and once again this book is coming in handy. One page shows a crib and a big boy bed in the same room so now I can explain that there will be a baby in the crib that is near his bed! I must admit I couldn't have been more pleased!

Not too fancy- stars toddler's favorite friend...ELMO

I read this to my son for two solid days and then went to the big boy bed (which had Elmo sheets). My son was so excited we took down his crib the next day.

BRAVO!

This book helped my daughter with her switch to a toddler bed (she sometimes takes the book to bed with her, as well as her stuffed Elmo doll). I especially like the page that shows both the crib and the bed in the same room, which is the case in her room.

5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect for Us!, August 18, 2011

I started reading this book to my son when he was about 15 months old. I have read it to him on a daily basis and have told him that one day he will have a big kids bed too. I do add a line after the page where his mom reads him a story that goes something like this "And Elmo's mommy tucks him in, and he stays in his bed all night long and doesn't get out." I moved my son into his big kids bed two weeks ago and have not had any problems at all. And, he gets in bed and stays there! Yay! I think that is amazing for a kid who just turned 2!

When I purchased the book, one of the reviewers said that it was too simple and not worth the money. I got it anyways since my son loves Elmo. It is simple, not much too it. But, that's the beauty of it! It's exactly what a 1 or 2 year old child needs when you're introducing a new concept. Even though my son is now sleeping in his big kids bed, we still read the book almost every day because he loves it.

5.0 out of 5 stars awesome book, February 23, 2011

bought when my dtr was almost 2-year old to prepare for transition to twin bed. book is simple but direct. my dtr picked out her own sheets (like it says in the book) and of course picked out ELMO sheets! does not talk about the 'scary' things like some other books do. my opinion is don't give the child any ideas of what to maybe be afraid of. one other book I screened went on and on about fears like falling out of bed, monsters, getting lost under the covers, etc. this elmo book does none of that. just says that 'elmo knows that sleeping in his new big bed will be different from the crib, so he brings his doll David . . "

5.0 out of 5 stars Great for getting into a big boy bed., January 15, 2011

We started reading this book to my 2.5 year old son about a week before we took him out of his crib. When we put him in a full bed we let him take it with him every night to sleep. He also takes it out and grabs a blanket and a pillow and pretends to sleep on the floor. I firmly believe it has helped smooth the transition.

This book is a quick, easy read. My 2 year old understood it and went and laid down in her big girl bed right after!
