Big Eye Art: Resurrected and Transformed is definitely NOT just another ho-hum boring and insignificant fantasy art book! If you are into big eyes, this book was compiled especially for you! If you check ALL the reviews, you will see that the majority of people LOVE this book! The book includes an eclectic assortment of artists of varying styles and their equally eclectic art; many of these artists ARE internationally famous and published. Jasmine Becket-Griffith (who also writes the foreword), creates designs for Disney, the Hamilton Collection, Ashton-Drake, and the Bradford Exchange; many other artists featured in the book are also licensed with major companies as well, showing their work in important gallery exhibitions across the globe. The work of several artists in the book are featured in other publications as well, including solo art books.

What you're getting--all wrapped up in one delightfully fun, sometimes off-the-wall, but always entertaining volume--is surreal art, doll art, fantasy art (such as fairies and mermaids), tattoo art, anime art, lowbrow art, creature art, video-game art, robot art, cat art, dog art, Gothic art, fan art (Belinda Carlisle, Debbie Harry, and Courtney Love), fairy tale illustrations, Margaret Keane tribute art, Halloween art, and more. There are boxing bull dogs, winged monkeys, dancing rats, hybrid bird-kittens, snakes sprouting multiple human heads, Egyptian cats, nurse, cowgirl, Mona Lisa, and hippie Blythe dolls, Marie Antoinette illustrations, roaring twenties flappers, fairies and mermaids, and much, much more! Also, check out the inspirational artist bios! I was going to upload pictures, which are worth a thousand words, but, unfortunately, Amazon won't let me. To sum it all up, Big Eye Art: Resurrected and Transformed, offers a sometimes dark, sometimes whimsical, sometimes puzzling, often comical, frequently outrageous--but never, ever dull--look into the world of big eyes!

This was a big book. I loved that each artist was interviewed thoroughly. The photos of the various art pieces were big and most were full page. It was very interesting and at the back of the book you can see what each artist looks like and find their websites.

A nice gallery of well-known and lesser known artists who specialize in the big eye figures.
If you don't care for one artist's work--there's sure to be another to love and follow.

From an art perspective particularly self taught artists, the images are beautiful in detail and colour, and perfect as a reference for anyone wanting to learn and practise this lovely artform.

Was really hoping for a fuller collection of all the many talented big eye artists out there, but sadly, just a sad collection of fantasy fairy art and paintings of blythe dolls. The technique and skill of most of the artists is very crude and naive, and is reads more like a "best of" of a high school Fairy art.

There could have been SO many amazing artists included in here that weren't; was very disappointed in the curation of the artists involved. No Audrey Kawasaki, no Camilla D'Errico, no Mark Ryden. These are artists that should have been front and foremost featured in this book, and yet, nary a mention! I also wanted a larger retrospective collection of the original big eye artists; Keane and such were mentioned, but I would have appreciated a fuller history and gallery of their art to contrast the contemporary pieces to.

Was really wanting to like this book; I was so happy to see it arrive as a present, but now considering exchanging it for a book like Hunt/Gather or something more selective from Juxtapoz.
