What you're getting--all wrapped up in one delightfully fun, sometimes off-the-wall, but always entertaining volume--is surreal art, doll art, fantasy art (such as fairies and mermaids), tattoo art, anime art, lowbrow art, creature art, video-game art, robot art, cat art, dog art, Gothic art, fan art (Belinda Carlisle, Debbie Harry, and Courtney Love), fairy tale illustrations, Margaret Keane tribute art, Halloween art, and more. There are boxing bull dogs, winged monkeys, dancing rats, hybrid bird-kittens, snakes sprouting multiple human heads, Egyptian cats, nurse, cowgirl, Mona Lisa, and hippie Blythe dolls, Marie Antoinette illustrations, roaring twenties flappers, fairies and mermaids, and much, much more! Also, check out the inspirational artist bios! I was going to upload pictures, which are worth a thousand words, but, unfortunately, Amazon won't let me. To sum it all up, Big Eye Art: Resurrected and Transformed, offers a sometimes dark, sometimes whimsical, sometimes puzzling, often comical, frequently outrageous--but never, ever dull--look into the world of big eyes!
If you don't care for one artist's work--there's sure to be another to love and follow.
authors and use them on my own drawings and projects!
There could have been SO many amazing artists included in here that weren't; was very disappointed in the curation of the artists involved. No Audrey Kawasaki, no Camilla D'Errico, no Mark Ryden. These are artists that should have been front and foremost featured in this book, and yet, nary a mention! I also wanted a larger retrospective collection of the original big eye artists; Keane and such were mentioned, but I would have appreciated a fuller history and gallery of their art to contrast the contemporary pieces to.
Was really wanting to like this book; I was so happy to see it arrive as a present, but now considering exchanging it for a book like Hunt/Gather or something more selective from Juxtapoz.
Purchased through Amazon and Supplier fast & items were packaged well & arrived in A-1 condition. .

Great book and for an artist it has a lot of valuable things to show them how to do. This was a gift and the receiver was just delighted with everything it had inside the book. Read morePublished 3 months ago by TR
