For years we've all been tricked into spending our hard-earned money on products that "guarantee" impossible results. For most of us, the struggle to lose weight, stay fit or just maintain the semblance of a healthy lifestyle is a constant battle. Unfortunately, there are people and industries that prey on our vulnerabilities. We are relentlessly enticed by advertising, seduced by marketing gimmicks, prescribed unnecessary drugs, served unhealthy food, sold useless products, misled by government agencies, and, well, left to fend for ourselves as our health deteriorates.

Shockingly, the very industries that promise to improve our health have actually deceived us and are sabotaging our efforts. Fit Advocate and former industry insider Craig Pepin-Donat walked away from a career as a top fitness industry executive to expose the big, fat health and fitness lie and he is here with a message. Stop getting ripped off by diets, gimmicks, fads, books, fitness gurus and billion dollar industries trying to con you out of your money.

The Big Fat Health and Fitness Lie exposes the industries and companies that profit at the expense of your health and your pocketbook, but it doesn't stop there. It is chock full of insights, recommendations and resources to get you on the path to a healthy and fit lifestyle -- permanently. Before you spend another penny on health and fitness products, you owe it to yourself to read The Big Fat Health and Fitness Lie.

From the Author

"My promise is that within these pages you will find vital information that will save you significant time and money. You will learn how to become a savvy and economical consumer of health and fitness products who is immune to the bogus marketing of those who seek to separate you from your hard-earned money. I will expose the sales and marketing juggernaut and detail how to crack the psychological code for what triggers the buying decision for these products and services. This knowledge will insulate you from their deceptions and lies. More important, each chapter contains a detailed road map for building a solid foundation that will enable you to achieve lasting health and fitness success.

Page by page, you will see that I am not interested in sensationalizing the information and it is not written to make money at the expense of others. It is simply the truth. The truth, however, is not always pretty, especially when it reveals the dirty secrets within these industries.

What I am sharing was as difficult for me to write as it will be for many of you to accept. But accepting the truth is the only path to genuine health and fitness results. This book reveals why most health and fitness products and services will never help you achieve your goals. With this knowledge, you will be better prepared to make decisions that will undoubtedly improve and, hopefully, extend your life."

5.0 out of 5 stars "Get busy living!", May 9, 2007
By

This review is from: The Big Fat Health and Fitness Lie (Hardcover)
Noted fitness expert and consumer advocate Craig Pepin-Donat makes it easy to separate scams from simple truth in his forthright and eminently readable book, "The Big Fat Health and Fitness Lie." Pepin-Donat offers details, as only an insider can, that debunk a number of health-and-fitness myths, along with "simple, but not easy" suggestions for taking charge of your health --- and your life.

When it comes to improving our health and fitness, most of us like to assume we're on the right track. We know it's important to get (and stay) healthy and fit, and we're determined to reach that goal. The trouble is, it's just so hard to do. Thank goodness there are miracle diet pills, weight-loss supplements, and perfect home gyms that will do the work for us! But it's not that easy. Even though we think we can't be fooled by slick sales pitches or swayed by heartfelt testimonials, the multi-billion-dollar health and fitness industry knows we can be--and that we're willing to pay for it.

But Pepin-Donat keeps us from getting duped. From taking vitamins to buying exercise equipment and many points in between, "The Big, Fat Health and Fitness Lie" shines a bright light on the path to positive self-improvement, so that we can, as Pepin-Donat so succinctly puts it, "get busy living!"

5.0 out of 5 stars A Reality Check on Health and Fitness, May 2, 2007
By
Sandra Waldeis (St. Augustine, Florida) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
This review is from: The Big Fat Health and Fitness Lie (Hardcover)
This insider's critique of the fitness industry provides valuable knowledge needed as one traverses the lies, scams and fraud prevalent on the road to a healthy lifestyle. This is a candid assessment of weight loss plans and products, gyms and fitness equipment, supplements and food fads. The author knows of what he speaks. He calls on his years of experience working at the top of the fitness industry, as well as his own struggles with diet and exercise. Pepin-Donat does not have tunnel-vision when it come to fitness. He has a good grasp of the bigger picture and talks of the negative impact of addiction in all its forms (not just food) on one's search for a wholesome life. The book is a fast read, does not confuse one with "fitness" lingo, and backs up its message with research and data. The author's message is not that one should become a fitness fanatic or build the perfect body. The goal is to find a lifelong health and fitness plan that will enhance one's lifestyle, physically and emotionally. Needs to be on your bookshelf!

5.0 out of 5 stars Best fitness book you'll ever want, April 27, 2007
By
Shipshape (Chicago, IL USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The Big Fat Health and Fitness Lie (Hardcover)
It is really very exciting to finally have a clear guide through the maze of frauds that make up the health and fitness industry. This book is a small miracle of practical advice about how to take a sane look at what you need to do to get in shape and stay in shape, now and for the future. It ranks workout equipment honestly and provides sound guidance on the issues of quick fixes (there aren't any), fitness clubs, and fast diets. This is a book you cannot afford to be without if you want to be reasonably healthy for the rest of your life.
