Where has this been ?,
By Joseph Liggera (Poughkeepsie, New York) - See all my reviews

Where has this album been? Recently picked up this album on a fluke and was literally blown away. Jim Weider and the Honky Tonk Gurus is a masterpiece. Rarely can one be treated to the guitar expertease - no pun intended - that is demonstrated here. Mr. Weider's guitar sings with a blues/rock sound that resonates outward and if not careful right to your car's accelerator. Randy Ciarlante provides excellent drum work which only serves to heighten the experience. Also out is a collaboration of Eric Clapton and B.B. King but the real shame is that it is Jimmy's sound that echos in your ear. To live one should enjoy good food, good friends, and a richness of experience -- and all to the soundtrack that THE HONKEY TONK GURUS HAVE PROVIDED.

Crank it up and wipe that grin off your face. This album really cooks and Weider plays from the bottom of his heart. He is on his way up there with Hendrix, Vaughn and company.

"BIGFOOT" IS BIG ROCK!,
By BOB SURPRISE (NEW YORK) - See all my reviews

JIM WEIDER AND THE HONKY TONK GURUS HAVE GOT IT ALL ON THIS MASTERPIECE. 'BIGFOOT' IS STRAIGHT-TO-THE-HEART ROOTS ROCK THAT TAKES JIM WEIDER AND DRUMMER/VOCALIST RANDY CIARLANTE CATAPULTING FROM THEIR MANY YEARS WITH 'THE BAND' TO NEW HEIGHTS. WEIDER'S HAUNTING GUITAR ON 'DEEPEST CUT' BRINGS A SMILE TO MY FACE AND AT THE SAME TIME, A TEAR TO MY EYES. 'LITTLE MISS LOVER' IS SCORCHING AND SOULFULL WHILE NEW 'ORLEANS BOOGIE' MAKES EVEN THE WALLFLOWERS WANNA JUMP TO THE DANCE FLOOR. 'LOVE IS LIKE RAIN' IS REMINISCENT OF SOME CLASSICS THAT WEIDER WROTE FOR THE BAND LIKE HIS 'REMEDY' FROM THE 'JERICHO' ALBUM. BUY THIS SOON TO BE CLASSIC IMMEDIATELY AND PUT IT IN YOUR COLLECTION NEXT TO THE LIKES OF ERIC CLAPTON AND STEVIE RAY VAUGHN. THEY'D BOTH BE IN GOOD COMPANY.

Guitar players often buy albums to hear other guitar players such as Jeff Beck. Jim Welder has come up with a truly rockin' & honky tonk guitar player's must have album. Jim has the touch. This is an album you can hear an unprocessed raw to sweet REAL guitar playing. What you hear is his touch and feeling singing...Besides the playing the recording is so well done, open and airy. Play on, dream on............. Thank you Jim for a wonderful album.

not just any band,

after hearing Jim Weider's 1st solo cd, since The Band stopped recording,,i was a fan for life. His guitar stylings & Randy Ciarlante's rhythmic leadership make for a great great piece of music. Richard Bell, & all their other friends just add spice to some blistering original tunes,,,& a reworking of some friendly old friends,,, please, if you are a TELECASTER fan, jimmy is the BEST,, & the entire package is a must,,, Randy's vocals, harmonies & groove show he was "paying attention "when he sat next to & behind some of the best musicians ever,, Levon Helm & Rick Danko,,,But BIG FOOT is an ORIGINAL album,, get it, you'll see,,,,
