5.0 out of 5 stars Should have had a US release., September 19, 2007

I still don't understand why this album wasn't released in the US.
Maybe because it's so hard to pigeonhole Candy's music, which really does a disservice to her and to the potential listener. You can't really put her in a box like that, unless of course you're sending it to my house, in which case make sure it's padded and has air holes. =)

There's so much variety on this album that there's something for nearly everyone to enjoy. I suppose Death Metal or opera fans need not bother, but for everyone else, this should be in your collection.

I adore Candy, and her music always makes me feel good. For this album, my favorite tracks are probably I.L.U. and Capone, but I pretty much enjoy all the tracks. 2 Miles, a tribute to the late Miles Davis, is warm and laid back - great for just relaxing or winding down the day. The only exception would be I'll Still be Looking Up To You, which is almost gospel like; good song, and Candy on sax is splendid as usual, it's just not my cup of tea.

Here's the track listing:

5.0 out of 5 stars big girl has groove, April 1, 2007

Funky light jazz, hip dance grooves, whatever you want to call it this cd makes you want to get out of the chair and boogy. The band is solid, this work is good start to finish.

5.0 out of 5 stars Jazz It's Candy!, October 23, 2004
This review is from: Big Girl (Audio CD)
In my opinion, this album is a real masterpiece, a true synergy of brilliant technical performance and flawless production. While Candy's sound is often described as "smooth jazz", for this one I'd rather say it's "acid jazz" because of strong hip-hop influence on a lot of tracks, like "Wake Me When It's Over", "2 Miles" and especially the title track. Also, there is some heavy-funk ("Tommy Gun", "Funkyness"), jazz ("Jazz It's Me") and a couple of ballads ("September", "Capone"). But even slow-tempo tracks never lapse into Sanborn-fuzak, nicely fitting space in between the energetic funky tracks, which prevail here. Only one track, the utterly commercial pop ballad "I'll Still Be Looking Up To You" breaks the album's flow, but since it's track 13, you'll probably be so excited by that time, that you won't pay attention. The arrangements are great, especially when it comes to combining live and computer-generated sounds. The unforgettable journey, and the best choice to start with, if you are unfamiliar with Candy's music.
