5.0 out of 5 stars If you like to laugh
If you like to laugh, don't miss The Big Girls' Guide to Life. Bunkie Lynn tells it like it is for a lot of women as she covers such subjects as food and its procurement; exercise and its avoidance; clothes, makeup, hair and its removal; heaving yourself up the career ladder; and relationships and money. There's a lot of truth between the laughs, no matter what size you...

1.0 out of 5 stars Yes, it's meant to be satire, but. . .
You don't self-deprecate yourself to a point that dispirits your target audience. Why? Because they'll start to walk away. I can't help but think this book makes you feel worse than what the roll-it-off-your-shoulders theme the authors intends. Since reading books from Wendy Shanker & McClure, "The Big Girls'Guide to Life" isn't funny anymore.

4.0 out of 5 stars Big laughs, February 7, 2005
This review is from: The Big Girls' Guide to Life: A Plus-Sized Jaunt Through a Body-Obsessed World (Paperback)
This book is a riot. I think the author still has issues though. Her fashion section is so outdated it goes back to the earlier 90's!
She adds the "fat is funny" to her style which is good, but still sterotypical. People laugh at fat people as it is. The good thing is it stays posative which is excellent. I'd give it a 5,but it's not 5 worthy.

Cute and funny...i actually laughed out loud quite a few times. Very clever, and something different from the norm. I enjoyed it and would recommend it to all Big Girls.

5.0 out of 5 stars GREAT Book!, November 1, 2004
This review is from: The Big Girls' Guide to Life: A Plus-Sized Jaunt Through a Body-Obsessed World (Paperback)
I LOVED this book! I've lived a lot of it, and really connected with the author's stories! I think most women who have struggled with their weight are going to find snippets of their life in this book! Especially funny? The part about the 4 food groups, and the author's experience doing a half marathon as a big girl! I truly had tears rolling down my face (from laughter, of course!) reading these sections! Read it and see what you identify with!
