Big Hand, Little Hand: Learn to Tell Time!,
This review is from: Big Hand, Little Hand (Spiral-bound)
I have bought this book over and over again for friends and family. Children need to be at certain developmental stage to understand how to tell time, but that does not mean you can not start early. Even if the concept is too difficult for them, all kids love playing with the big hand and little hand. Like riding a bike one day they can tell the time. The lights go on! It happens in stages, hours first then half hours and then all the complicated inbetween times. Suggest teaching miday and bedtime first anything that is on the hour.
This book is a must buy and is very reasonable pricing. Happy customer in Washington State US.

Useful, but not durable,
This review is from: Big Hand, Little Hand (Spiral-bound)
I work with a child who has autism and we use the book often in our study time together. The rhyming words are helpful to help him remember the different times and activities. However, the hands on the clock are not very durable. At some point, I will have to replace the hands. He is not a destructive child, but he does pull at the hands from time to time.

I have used this book to teach how to read a clock to two of my children. They liked being able to reposition the clock hands and the rhyming story.

This isn't worth the "free super saver" shipping & handling. It's a book with a farmyard setting, i.e. "the pigs have cake & tea at a quarter past 2", "Farmer so&so feeds the chicks at 7 in the morning", etc. My kid doesn't live on a farm. I expected it to have content that would be easier for a five year old kid from the suburbs to relate to, i.e. "This is when you go to school", "This is when you eat your dinner", etc. It doesn't even cover A.M. & P.M, which is something I consider to be important information when telling time. For ten bucks, this book could be a lot better.
