Book Description

When a young Apache man is found hanging from a tree on Cat Mountain, Sheriff Jim Weber and FBI agent Larry Parks go on the hunt for the killers and by the time their investigation is over, the idealistic cover is ripped from the little mountain town of Big Lake, revealing old prejudices, resentments, and hatred.

In their search for justice, Sheriff Weber and Parks encounter Native American activists, a kinky couple whose passion burns as hot as their tempers, a teenager with excess baggage, and a father and son team of small town bullies, to name just a few.

Many of the characters that made the original Big Lake book so popular are back, along with some new ones readers will remember for a long time.

One reviewer has referred to the Big Lake mystery series as “Mayberry Meets Twin Peaks." It’s a combination of humor and intrigue that launched author Nick Russell’s first Big Lake book into Amazon’s 100 Top Paid Kindle books for over 78 days, and Big Lake Lynching is sure to be a hit too!

5.0 out of 5 stars Mr. Russell has done it again. February 2, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
Nick Russell has done it again, only this time the sequel is better than the original. In this Mayberry meets Twin Peaks thriller we see just how volatile as sleepy little town can become when you throw drunk rednecks, angry Indians and rich city bullies into the mix.
Russell once again captures the atmosphere of a small rural town and all of the growing pains it must endure to survive in an ever changing world.

When a young half-breed Indian is found hanging, beaten and scalped, Sheriff Webber has few clues until a witness comes forward with the description of a vehicle that was in the area the night of the murder, a vehicle belonging to a local welder who thinks he can intimidate his way through life.

At the dead man's funeral a small band of Indians swear vengeance for the murder and the years of hatred from the white people of Big Lake. Then a chance encounter with a speeding teen-aged boy and his over bearing step-father from the city adds fuel to an already volatile situation. The investigation takes off, but all may not be as it seems.
Although a few of the characters are strictly archetypal and the role they fill is minor, there are others that are as real as any I've encountered in any story.

I read Big Lake Lynching in one sitting, which I rarely do, truly unable to stop.
I highly recommend it. Well done Mr. Russell.

5.0 out of 5 stars Love these characters February 3, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
I made the mistake of starting reading this book about an hour before bedtime. I was up until 2 am. I love Nick Russell's characters. Well not Archer or his dad or the Raffertys but I'd love to meet most of them. Warning: if you have not yet read "Big Lake" do so before reading this one so you don't kick yourself later.

5.0 out of 5 stars I want more. April 8, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
I am really not a reader of novels. Si-Fi short stories or technical articles are my norm but after a friend suggested I try Big Lake on my wife's Kindle for a "quick read" I thought I could give it a try.
I thoroughly enjoyed Big Lake Lynching even more than the first story Big Lake. I have to admit that Nick may have turned me on to this type of reading and I am now more inclined to check out some other murder mystery novels.
Hopefully there will be more from Nick Russell and more stories with the "characters" from Big Lake the town. I anxiously await the next story.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great read March 15, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
Rarely does a sequel match the original. This book is an exception. Well written, well developed characters, and more plot twists than a politician under oath.

5.0 out of 5 stars Another Big Lake Gem May 10, 2012
By Ms. JP
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
Just finished reading this exciting, funny, page turner by Nick Russell. Hopefully he will continue to take us to this sleepy town of Big Lake again so we can enjoy the antics of Sheriff Webber, the Mayor, and the Mayor's son (lol) and his staff. A book that really grabs you from the very beginning until the very end. Keep up the good work and look forward to a third book by this exciting new author.

This author is great - he makes me want to travel to this lovely little place and meet the Sheriff to shake his hand and to snub the Mayor in any humiliating way I can! The story is well thought out and a really good, stress free and easy read. Well done, now where's the next novel?

I have read Big Lake and now I have just finished Big Lake Lynching.
I am hard to satisfy when it comes to a Mystery story. And Nick Russell has satisfied me. I suspect Mr Russell has been there and done that. The Author has captured and accurately described the feelings of the characters in this book. It is easy to read and enjoyable. and it was a bargain on Kindle.

3.0 out of 5 stars Great plot. Not great writing
Characters as bright and witty as these would use appropriate grammar and word tense, even in everyday conversation. It's distracting.
