After 10 albums with UB40, Campbell indulges his romantic pop side with this soft-centered solo sojourn. Aside from a rap-flavored "Talking Blackbird," the tough "riddims" are at a minimum on a dozen tracks that mix covers (Berry Gordy, Snooks Eaglin, UB40 itself) with Campbell originals. A must to avoid: a remake of "Somethin' Stupid" with Ali and daughter Kibibi, aged 7, in the roles of Frank and Nancy Sinatra. --Jeff Bateman

This is a wonderful album with a good mix of r&b, pop and reggae, with even a rap song thrown in for good measure. Each and every song is a good song and I would be hard pressed to choose a favourite. The editorial reviewer says that "Somethin' Stupid" should be avoided, but I disagree. I think it's a sweet rendition that Ali sings with his little daughter. The other cover songs are just as good as well as the originals. I highly recommend this album to all fans of UB40. The 12 page booklet includes the lyrics for "Talking Blackbird", the rap song, photos of the musicians and some good information on hemp of all things.

UB40 has long been an unrecognized powerhouse of well thought lyric.Ever since their first releases together 20 or so yrs. ago, I've been a fan. Ali Campbell's solo release of BIG LOVE is an amazing album. Ali's beautiful voice, and grand talent are hard to find elsewhere, except in the other members of UB40. And DON'T miss the remake Of Somethin' Stupid w/ daughter Kibibi. It's...ideally "angelic" sounding. In summation, Ali's solo release is a smart, romantic, riviting addition to modern music.

Excellent performance by Ali, lead singer in UK raggae group UB40. His first solo album contains 12 tracks from which are the first five the best. Containing raggae sound with his golden voice Ali is given a new horizon to a love raggae songs. Simple and easy to listen music with excellent raggae vibes. Raggae FUNS, BUY THIS ALBUM ! I can't get enough of it.
