Big Mama's Baby is a hit with my grandkids. They love the idea of having a calf for a pet and smile at how Big Mama cares for her "Baby." The neighbors, of course, think she'd off her noodle, but one friend sticks by her and in the end helps solve the problem of what to do with Baby, who still loves Mama, but is a little hard to mother now that he's become a big, black bull.

Eunice Boeve, author of Maggie Rose and Sass, a Kansas Notable Book set in an all black town in the 1880s; The Summer of the Crow,a novel set in 1935 Kansas; A Window to the World, about 12-year-old Annie who lives in 1850s Virginia; Trapped!, the true story of Virginia Reed, a girl with the Donner Party; and an adult western novel, titled Ride A Shadowed Trail.

A comical story about a pet calf that gets too big for his owner, Big Mama, to handle. Follow Baby as he gets into mischief and see how it turns out! Cote's colorful illustrations bring the book to life.
