5.0 out of 5 stars My comments as a psychologist
As a busy psychologist, it is an unfortunate fact that I rarely have time to read books such as the one Ms. Heibner has written. 3.0 out of 5 stars A refreshing different MPD story
I liked this book because it was different than the other MPD books. Marcia certainly is an interesting character. I would like to know what happened to her. Anyone know where I can write the author? I only have one complaint. I wanted to know more!

5.0 out of 5 stars My comments as a psychologist, October 28, 1998
By A Customer
This review is from: Big Marcia H (Paperback)
As a busy psychologist, it is an unfortunate fact that I rarely have time to read books such as the one Ms. Heibner has written. However, a co worker had read it and mentioned it to me, and I felt compelled to read it myself. I found it considerably interesting in that it was not the typical DID (Mpd) book that is usually out there. While most DID books tend to refelct upon the reasons the DID developed, Ms. Heibner's book gave me a useful and tearing account of life while battling with a troubled personality. I commend this woman for having the courage to open her troubled world to the public. I found it very useful. Books such as this one are needed to help we in the psychological field understand and help treat this complex disorder more effectively.

4.0 out of 5 stars This book helped me understand a friend, July 6, 1998
By A Customer
This review is from: Big Marcia H (Paperback)
I have a friend with MPD and I happened to hear about Big Marcia H so I picked up a copy. It was not a big book so I didn't expect too much, but I took a chance and I was glad I did. I'm not a man who often cries, but that inner battle between those two characters reduced me to tears. Best of all it helped me understand one of my friends alot better. She also has MPD and now I understand her inner turmoil much better. I wish the author and her alter success and happiness.

4.0 out of 5 stars Too short but very educational, February 23, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Big Marcia H (Paperback)
Although I felt this book was entirely too short because it left me wanting to know what happened further to the author and her personality, I did find it very educational about how life is so complex when a person suffers from mental illness. These are the type of books that help alleviate prejudices and fears. We need more of these books by authors who are willing to step forward.

4.0 out of 5 stars Written in a way that a laymen could understand it, October 7, 1998
By A Customer
This review is from: Big Marcia H (Paperback)
Like other readers of this book, I was drawn to it because of how it was written. Ms. Heibner wrote the story of the battle between herself and one of her personalities in such a simple, touching way that even people such as I who deal very little with mental illness could understand it. This book left me with a deep respect for people with this disorder. I had, at one time, doubted this disorder, but Ms. Heibner's short and dramatic book made me re think my heart. I commend her struggle with this disorder and I also commend her decision to share her story with the public. I hope to hear more from this author.

5.0 out of 5 stars It was a heart-wrenching story!, April 30, 1998
By A Customer
This review is from: Big Marcia H (Paperback)
It was such a different story about multiple personality disorder. Usually the person doesn't know about their personalities - this was so intriguing that Lisa can actually talk to and feel her personalities. I would recommend highly that you read this book. I couldn't put it down!

5.0 out of 5 stars I laughed, I cried - I felt the authors strength & her fears, January 28, 1998
By A Customer
This review is from: Big Marcia H (Paperback)
When I finished the book and put it down at 3:00 a.m., I was in awe of the strengh of both Lisa and Big Marcia H. I was in total amazement at how two separate yet intertwined personalities survived the turmoil of the past years. I cried for Marcia for the things she beared and cried for Lisa for all she had lost. Lisa and Marcia had me from the beginning. Any book that can put you through every emotion possible and leave you with a feeling that the world is a little brigher at the end is a bestseller in my opinion. To make a reader feel the fear, the pain, the happiness,to cry and laugh and be angry at the stupidity of how some people view MPD - all from the same book is a truly a great accomplishment for this author. It's a rare talent that can make you feel all of these things by reading her words. I look forward to more books from this author.
