5.0 out of 5 stars Great, two-fisted, all-American fiction
Old Billy Dunbar needed money if he was to help Sally save her ranch from the bankers, and he knew of one good place to get it. So, there he was, deep in Apache country panning for gold. If the Apaches' found him he would end up good and dead, as many other prospectors had. And when the Apaches do find him, he will need all of his luck, skill and intellect just to...

1.0 out of 5 stars not what I expected
the first story was undoubtedly a re-print from one of his magazine articles. the second story had been printed as a separate book. I was expecting several stories from his magazine articles as the other book was that I ordered at the same time. this was a disappointment.

Old Billy Dunbar needed money if he was to help Sally save her ranch from the bankers, and he knew of one good place to get it. So, there he was, deep in Apache country panning for gold. If the Apaches' found him he would end up good and dead, as many other prospectors had. And when the Apaches do find him, he will need all of his luck, skill and intellect just to survive. But, Billy is tough and resourceful, and he has a really good idea in the back of his head - will it get him through?

You must like Louis L'Amour (1909-88), the king of the frontier stories, a giant in his genre. Now, like so many of his stories, this one relies on a bit of serendipity. But, that said, this is a great, two-fisted, all-American fiction - positively gripping from start to finish.

5.0 out of 5 stars kindle book order, February 5, 2010

Item was liked by the me and was read on receipt. Item was as described and delivery was as expected, trouble free and required no additional input from me after placing order. All of my kindle book orders have been as expected and the given description prior to ordering have been good in all the books ordered so far. I am up to having ordered about 14 different books since my kindle came as a Christmas present for 2009. I like this method better that actual printed books for general book reading, keeping available for future reading, and general information.
