From School Library Journal
YA A practical and useful handbook for amateur play production. While there is brief information on lighting, costume, makeup and scenery, most of the book concentrates on play direction, rehearsals and acting. Legat details the responsibilities of each job, from director to stagehand. Examples are given of how to rehearse, act different scenes and how to direct. Also included are suggestions for publicity and promotion. While this book is primarily geared to community theater groups, it has a wealth of practical information that can be used for student productions. The writing style is casual and easy to read. Directions are clear and concise; reasons for following certain steps and procedures are given. Pat Royal, Prince George's County Public School System, Md.
