5.0 out of 5 stars I am dancing in my kitchen!
Been in love with tom-toms and bongos etc. all of my life. So glad to have been walking through an outdoor shop in San Diego, California USA, on a trip and heard this music playing, asked about it, bouhgt it, pretty much shelved it once I got home. Five yrs. later I am thinking this would have helped me keep my girlish figure! For one thing, it is happy music! Another...

3.0 out of 5 stars Not as good as the first.
The strength of the first Mambo Inn project was the pairing of great dance DJ's with phenomenal artists from around the world that you may never have heard of. This cd drops the remix emphasis in favor of the artist's standard recordings and, I feel, drops the allure that made the first Mambo Inn so unique. I still think it is worthwhile for those who like world...

This cd drops the remix emphasis in favor of the artist's standard recordings and, I feel, drops the allure that made the first Mambo Inn so unique. I still think it is worthwhile for those who like world music, especially latin music.

Love it, just ordered the first Mambo Inn, and from the reviews, the first is even better than the second!
I say buy it, it is wonderful.

This CD is the best! If you love soft, romantic Brazilian samba, tempered with a bit of some harder rhythms from Central Africa, and some "sweet" South African-type music, you should buy this. Every song is outstanding in its own right.

more from the djs at the late lamented mambo inn. this time the tour starts in brazil across the ocean to west africa and then back across the ocean to the caribbean. fewer remixes heavier emphasis on latin music than the first, so the lower rating my be interpreted purely as a matter of personal taste. your mileage may vary.

standout track: baaba maal "hamady boiro" total rhythmic drive with macka b toasting a short history of senegal for those of us who are not fluent in woloff. if you can't dance to this you might want to check with your cardiologist because in all likelihood you are dead. other standout track: wagadu gu's epic note-for-note better production values weighing in at 14 minutes plus version of prince nico's "sweet mother," complete with the two guitarists playing in different keys during one of the guitar breaks. "you can get another wife, but can you get another mother? nooooo!!!!"
