I remember when this album had came out it had came out during the early 1990's I want to say 1990 I remember owning this album she is my home girl she is from Houston and she is from the North side I believe this album was put out on Rap-A-Lot Records a local record label but I like this whole cd this whole cd is good every song on here is good. I wonder whatever happened to her and how is she doing...... She should of done another cd if you like Lil Kim and Trina then I would reccommend you to buy this album becase it is off da hook!!!! My favorite cuts are :Minute Man, Back Seat Betty, and the Big Payback!!!!!

Houston's rap label, Rap-A-Lot Records, a well put together label by J-Prince, has been known for taking many listeners through the street life Texas through their music. Many of their fans would go as far as considering it a form of southern gangsta rap. For over 20 years, the rap label has released countless classics from such artists as The Geto Boys (to include Scarface, Bushwick Bill, and Willie D), Big Mike, 5th Ward Boyz, Blac Monks, and even today with switching distribution deals (previously on Virgin Records, and Priority, to Asylum/Warner Brothers) with releases from Bun B, Pimp C, Lil' Flip, Partners-N-Crime, and more. Rarely would anyone hear any females out the group, but one of their releases was a Texas native female rapper named Kim Davis, better known as Choice back in 1990.

Choice was a rapper who really showed her attitude backing the female gender, mostly with sexual cliches. Her debut album The Big Payback really showed how far she can carry them through an entire album. Lyrically, she lacked the substance that many female rappers in the 90's would have to carry them for the longevity of their career. Not really expecting her to sound like someone along the lines of Queen Latifah, MC Lyte, Yo-Yo, or any conscious female rapper that was well known back in the day, but the problem with Choice was that her interests here were about receiving oral sex from men. Personally I really don't mind when women rap about topics like that (since in all fairness, many men rhyme about it all the time), but roughly 8 out of the 10 tracks are nothing but that topic.

The two tracks that really don't stray into that area are the title track, whereas for some reason she disses rappers like Too Short, Eazy-E and NWA, and The Geto Boys (seeing that shes stomping on a few hats with their names on the front and back covers). The latter group were her label mates, and really dissing them really did her no justice. The song really showed that she had the potential to be a good rapper, seeing that it was the very first track on the album. The other track that fell into this category was "Back Seat Betty" where she contradicts the other songs on the album, telling young girls not to go down the wrong path. The rest of the album really just explores with sexual cliches about her preference of men going down on her (at least she claims she returns the favor on "Nothin But Sex"...not many women will say that).

Even so this album is long forgotten and not many people can remember Choice anymore, although she would release Stick-N-Moove with is slightly better than this album, and I mean slightly. The album style really shows Rap-A-Lot's premature days with its production (although there are no production credits given in the album, but according to Wikipedia, J-Prince produced the entire album). I would say that Choice's style sounds like a late 80's version of Foxy Brown or Missy Eliott. Listeners who are interested in digging through the vaults of the old Rap-A-Lot days I would recommend this album to. But even at the high prices being sold, my recommendation doesn't go far with this album. For everyone else, I recommend them to stick with their more relevant artists. Peace.

Choice sounds like a cross between Roxanne Shante and The Ghetto Twiinz.
Her style reminds me a lot of the female rapper "Brownsuga". I'm much aware that "Brownsuga" came around post-choice, I just didn't know how to word it in a way it makes sense, Whatever. I'm more than sure alot of people don't even remember her. She had one album titled "Female Thugs" (Brownsuga) which was also the name of her first and only single "Female Thugs". She came around after Choice in 1997/1998. Choice Is In the same category with BWP (The Bytches), H.W.A. and Babygirl If you can recall everyone I just named, put it all together and you've got MC Choice.

Choice is hard to understand or catch on to, One minute she's talking about spreading her legs and "gettin down" in songs like "Cat Got Your Tongue" and "Mr. Big Stuff". Then the next track rolls around and she shakes her head at what she describes as a "Backseat Betty" yet she was just as promiscuous according to some of her other tracks. "Backseat Betty" is a general diss to all young whores. I don't get it. And it's all on the same album, So it's not like she evolved in a matter of studio sessions. if that were the case those other songs would've been scraped from the album.

"Backseat Betty", "I'm Down With My Man", "Bad Ass Bitch" And Of Course "The Payback" are the best tracks on this album. If you've heard of them you'd agree. "I'm Down With My Man" samples the 1985 track "Cutie Pie" by the "One Way" band, It sounds good.

Choice has a lack of rhythm and difficult time keeping the beat when she "Raps", Which takes away from her performance on majority of the songs.
I love how she sounds though, I love her accent. Her good songs are actually GOOD. The rest of the album sounds bootleg, Oh and we don't even want to get into the 2nd album. Mercy.
