Somewhat recognized genius,
This review is from: Big Problem Solution Let It Be (Audio CD)
Crispin Glover is my, and I'm sure other people's, God. This album, backed expertly by Barnes and Barnes of "Fish Heads" fame, is a masterpiece. For some reason he has been relegated to supporting (even non-speaking) roles in his film career, but here he has his chance to shine. Crispin's version of "These Boots Are Made For Walking" is genius (although I refrain from calling it the best only because there are so many covers of that song), and his original "Auto-Manipulator" is on many playlists in my CD collection. If you're even a peripheral Crispin Glover fan you have to get this album.

Yes, this Cd is "weird" but it's not weird just for shock value. It's supposed to make you think. PLEASE take the time to really listen to it, it does have a message. It helps if you read the back of the CD, and also look up what kind of projects Crispin Glover is working on now.

This album broke my psyche. I felt it shatter. I did. -nod-
"F*cked up" doesn't even begin to cover it. This is forty three minutes of pure, unadulterated insanity. There's no reference I could come up with that could possibly prepare you for this album. Not one. Now, I have seen and heard a lot of disturbing things in my life, but this *has* to have wormed its way to the top of the list. Yeah, definitely recommended. I can't say I'll listen to this often, but it'll certainly have its place in my collection and I will sure as hell be burning it for all my friends. :)

This cd is absolute insanity! It's craaaaazy! This is why everyone and their mothers should own it! Go! Buy it now! What are you waiting for? Crispin is a lyrical genius (I'm an au-to manipulator, I play with myself, I'm a masturbator!) and has a rather soothing voice (Where is my concubine? Where where where where where is my concubiine?). It'd be just wrong to not own this. So, go now! Buy! BUY BUY BUY BUY THE CD!

I've listened to this cd approximately four times since I came home to find it waiting for me this evening. I'm still not any closer to understanding just what the hell Crispin's deal is, and I've probably done irreparable damage to my sanity, but I don't really care. If, like me, you really enjoy hearing the undeniably weird Crispin Hellion Glover reciting lines like "Only yesterday I had a lamb's skin removed" in his strange, oddly sweet voice over merry, almost pastoral music, get this album. Get it now. If, however, you don't go in for that sort of insanity, shun this album like it's the plague.

The End of the World,

This album will NEVER leave your mind, once you listen to it. Crispin Glover's dementia IS infectious, and you WILL succumb. Whether belting out clasics like "These Boots Were Made for Walking," coming up with his own classics like "Clowny Clown Clown," or reading from his treated books like "Rat Catching," Mr. Glover's truly unique voice shines through each track. Weirdo synth music from an uncredited Barnes & Barnes brings it to a boil. This is the least sane album you might ever hear.

Indeed, he is an ethereal prince of Apollo, molded by the priests of Cyrinx.. If only I were his long lost concubine, I would build a shrine to him. But Never say never to Always. And yes, I know this is not very helpful. I just wanted to give my Lion Lover stars. Through the undying love of passion and dream, that he be anointed by eternity. Lvs777LAW If these words seem completely batty to some of you, nevermind them. They are only child's play & aren't meant to be taken seriously. I just thought it would be fun to attempt to create a review as odd as his cd. It's like a cipher full of mystery and had me dying of laughter. One of the most brilliant, clever, intriguing things I've ever come across, though so is he. There is nothing like it on this planet! Buy it if only for that! You will never come across anything like it again. He also has a sweet, soothing voice, even when he's whining about boots. +

It's all about "Auto Manipulator" and your mother...,
By A Customer
This review is from: Big Problem Solution Let It Be (Audio CD)
wow...............wow.............man.........that's all i could say when I first got the cd. I was writing a paper for a film class, and I looked up "The Orkly Kid" and a summary mentioned a cd by Senor Glover. I ordered it for laughs and I've had it for about a week now. I am making sure everyone I know will own this fabulous bit 'o' sound. "Auto Manipulator" was and unexpected favorite. I played it for a friend of mine, and we were enjoying a giggle when Mumsey walks in to see what the hubbub was. "Oh...did he say ::whisper:: beat your meat?" . I said no and she left. "Clowny Clown Clown" is the scariest diddy I have ever heard and "These Boots Are Made For Walkin'" is so much more tolerable than the original. Everyone must have this...except my mother.

This is easily the weirdest celebrity record ever made. Large portions of it consist of Glover reading excerpts from Oak Mot and Rat Catching, two dreary nineteenth-century books he republished after altering passages at random. It also features bizarre original songs and wacked out cover versions of older songs. The best original is the hilarious rap like ode to self pleasure "Auto-Manipulator". The best cover is his inside-out version of "These Boots Are Made For Walking", which he sings like a whiny, sobbing ex-boyfriend. Very strange album, much like the very strange man himself.
