PreSchool-K?A die-cut cardboard cover promises great fun for fire truck aficionados. When the alarm sounds, the fire engine and crew race to put out a warehouse fire?also attended by a helicopter carrying a news crew. A white and yellow seal on the cover proclaims, "It's Totally Interactive!"; unfortunately, those "sturdy pull tabs" are anything but! The interactive aspects are fragile and difficult to manipulate, almost coming apart on first use. The gratuitous gimmick ruins this otherwise appealing picture book with bright, black-outlined illustrations that are reminiscent of the work of Byron Barton. Great, real-life fun,

This book is a lot of fun for our son (age 2 1/2). He happened to have it in his lap the other day while we passed a real-life fire surrounded by fire trucks. His book came to life before our eyes. Definitely a winner!

My 18-month-old loves this book!,

OK well maybe the water hose is torn and the door to the fire truck is frayed but this book is still my son's favorite. At a time when you want kids to get really excited about books -- most other books just don't get them involved in the story like this one does. We have to read the Big Red Fire Truck together at least three times before he will go to bed. And he loves that he opens the doors and he makes the fire truck go. Our current book may be falling apart -- but it is worth getting a second. A great book!

My 3 year old still has to read this book almost every night and he has had it since he was a year. We need to buy another one because all the parts are torn from wear and tear.
