Great History of The Big Red One,
By
This review is from: The Big Red One (G.I. Series) (Paperback)
My father was a soldier in WWII, serving in The Big Red One--First Infantry Division. He never talked about the war so I try to find books that tell me about what his unit/platoon actually experienced. This book does that. It's almost a day-to-day history (well, not quite). It is well written and interesting. It's a good mix of personal experience and overall history. I like it a lot.

This review is from: The Big Red One (G.I. Series) (Paperback)
This book has some great photos of The Big Red One, the U.S. Army 1st Infantry Division. It covers the period from the division's inception in 1917 to 1970, following successful campaigns in both World Wars and Vietnam. The book includes a short history of the division and some really outstanding pictures of the soldiers in the unit along with typical uniforms and equipment for the time. A great introduction to this outstanding division.
