His music does entice your soul and draws you into his world,
By A Customer
This review is from: Big River Blues (Audio CD)
Dusty's music does entice your soul and draws you into his world. The sounds Dusty produces with his guitar are so haunting and beautiful. As I listened to "Sunset on Big River (instrumental)" I can see Dusty setting on his front porch barefoot playing his guitar, eyes closed and letting his fingers gently slide across the strings.Moon Goin' Down is loose and you can hear Dusty's foot tapping on the floor as he plays. He plays his guitar like there is no tomorrow on this one! He tells his story about leaving this world, and not being afraid to die. "The moon is goin down and the sun is gonna shine and I will be fine." Thanks to his Doberman's for keeping the Devil from his door, I do believe Dusty will do ok on that one. His song "Deal with me" (On Your Judgement Day). He sings about being a Devil on the prowl, under the darkness of the moon's light and having as much fun on this earthly plain. The bottom line is he will enjoy his life to the fullest before his judgement day. But then again don't we all want to do that deep down? Dusty's music it is earthy, strong, loose, laidback, rough and it has the diversity of many slide guitar styles. His music is true of a great blues player and brings to life the country blues stylings of Charlie Patton, Tommy Johnson, Son House, Fred McDowell, Skip James, Willie Brown, and many others. I call Dusty my blue eyed devil in blue jeans and he has come a knocking at my back door. For his music will entice, enchant you, draw you in, and it will go straight to your soul. Dusty's CD is a must have if your a lover of the blues

True Country Delta Blues,
By James Beauchamp (Austin, Texas) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Big River Blues (Audio CD)
I like 'Big River Blues'! Being raised in the early 50's and 60's in Biloxi, Mississippi, I grew up listening to this music, from the worksongs I would hear the chain gangs sing to the simple single string slide playing my old neighbor would play, that would make the hair stand up on my neck. This music might not be eveyones cup of tea ( Sonny Bono ? I dont think so ), but to me and my own humble opinion, it stands right up there with anything today in this style. The more I listen to it with Bukka White, Son House,& Blind Willie McTell , the more I like it.

The Deepest of Blues,
By Becky (NYC) - See all my reviews

'Big River Blues'slowley grew on me... at first, I kinda liked it,his deep voice and slide playing intrigued me, but the more I listened, the more I understood what Dustin was saying " that Life is to short to dwell on the Negative, and to make every minute in Life count, that we should make the most of the short time we have in this World and to accept that someday we will all die and by accepting this we live a fuller more positive Life' I have emailed him a few times, and he always makes me smile with his emails, a very Enlightened Gentleman...and I look forward to seeing him live soon and his next release, Peace , Becky
