5.0 out of 5 stars Babysitting Grandma
The previous reviewer seems to have many problems, none of which were caused by repeated forced viewings of Wee Sings "Big Rock Candy Mountain". The fact that this person's friend wanted to watch it over and over again is proof that this is one very enjoyable and imaginative film My grandkids enjoy all the colorful characters and upbeat songs/dances. 3.0 out of 5 stars A Little Strange...But Ok
Like all the other videos in this series, I was forced to watch this movie many times throughout my elementary school years. Wee-Sing pretty much WAS our music class. This one was pretty frequently used, and was actually pretty entertaining.

3.0 out of 5 stars A Little Strange...But Ok, December 12, 2005
This review is from: In The Big Rock Candy Mountain (DVD)
Like all the other videos in this series, I was forced to watch this movie many times throughout my elementary school years. Wee-Sing pretty much WAS our music class. This one was pretty frequently used, and was actually pretty entertaining.
A basic summary of the plot: A little girl travels through her playhouse to a fantasy world inhabited by a bird (?), a furry blue creature of some kind, three pastel mice, two furry brown creatures who eat too much, and a pinkish/purpleish bunny named (of course) Bunny Foo Foo. They play some games, watch a fly and a bee get married, sing, and of course learn a valuable lesson about playing nicely with others. The story itself is ok, but the setting and characters are a little weird. To this day I don't know what the female furry creature was supposed to be.

I bought this movie for my nieces for Christmas. My sister and I loved these movies when we were kids in the eighties. They still hold up over time. My nieces (1 and 2) love the movies and I will be purchasing more from the WeeSing DVDs.

3.0 out of 5 stars Bad DVD, September 20, 2011

I had the VHS of The Big Rock Candy Mountain when my children were little (their grown now), and my children LOVED it. Now that I have a grandbaby of my own, I bought it for her so she could enjoy it. The reason for only 3 stars is, this DVD was sluggish and doesn't work! I was very dissappointed it didn't work. Maybe the low rating should be directed more towards the provider, not the item itself.

My kids watched the Wee Sing videos when they were toddlers and now that they are having their own children, they requested I buy them for my grandchildren. The songs stay with you and the characters will too. Last the test of time.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great Songs, Too Much Foo Foo, August 3, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: In The Big Rock Candy Mountain (DVD)
All the Wee Sing products teach songs I learned as a child that I enjoy passing on to my children. My youngest has Down Syndrome and is 16 now. He has earned money to collect all nine Wee Sing DVD's and enjoys them a lot. The Big Rock Candy Mountain is his current favorite but he doesn't communicate well enough for me to know why he likes it. In my opinion, too much time is given to the Little Bunny Foo Foo story woven between the songs. The story was fine; it just took up too much time-- we could have had more great songs! The video downplays the glories of all the good things to eat in the Big Rock Candy Mountain, which is nice for parents but takes away some of the magic the name of the video promises. All of the Wee Sing videos do moralize but others do it less obtrusively. Under the Sea is the worst, Marvelous Musical Mansion is best in this regard.
