Nicely detailed figure, poorly manufactured,

I was very impressed with the quality of NECA's Big Daddy figure so I bought the Big Sister figure with high hopes. While the detail is very good, the quality and durability of the figure is not. Right after opening the package, the Big Sister's left arm just fell off. The forearm is just attached to the upper arm/body like a peg. It does not appear to even be glued together, and it's loose, which is probably why the arm fell off in the first place. Why not just manufacture one solid arm, and attach it to the body? The quality seems to be lacking compared to the Big Daddy figure. I don't regret my purchase, but I did have higher expectations.

This is an awesome addition to my collection, I have the prototype Big Daddy, this Big Sister, and the Big Daddy Ultra Deluxe figure on the way. I will most likely be getting the Woman splicer/ Little Sister combo when it comes out as well. The details on this are perfect. Its overall pretty well made, except that one of the arms popped off so I glued it back on. This most likely wouldnt hold up to well is it was being played with. It has the empty basket on the back for putting a little sister in, and I thought of buying the one that came with the little sister, but the price difference wasnt worth it to me. I would recommend this to anyone that is thinking of adding to their collection as I did.

I bought these along with the Bioshock 2 Special Edition for my boyfriend as a Valentine's Day gift. The Big Daddy plush seems very delicate, but the detail on it is amazing. It looks exactly like the doll little sister Eleanor is holding at the beginning of the game. The syringe is also very highly detailed. My only complaint on this is that the LED seemed a little loose inside, so when you push the button it doesn't always stay on, but it still looks great. You can't beat getting both replicas for the price.

I first want to mention a lot of people have complained about the left arm on this figure to have been broken coming out of the packing. Mine did not have this issue so it's one of two things:1. Quality assurance issue in China, NECA does their best to insure quality products. 2. Damaged before, during, after shipping. With that being said this piece is excellent for any NECA collector. The Big Sister from Bioshock 2 is an interesting piece and one I wanted to have in my collection. I did give durability 5 stars, but I have to mention be careful with the harpoon and adam extractor, thinner, softer pieces of plastic. I recommend getting a stand for this one too, she is a little top heavy.

The bioshock eve hypo and big daddy doll are just like you would see in the video game. Seem like they are made from quality parts. Only complaint is that the box was crushed but that was the fault of the shipper not the toy.

When i saw they were making a Big Daddy collectable Plush i knew i had to get it!Then i found this combo with the LED Hypo and Plush togeather for a fantastic price, i ordered it right away. Only took a few days and it arrived. These are fantastic collectable items for any fan of the Bioshock games, and look great on the shelves. The Big Daddy Plush is well put togeather and in the same light looks like it is just being held togeather with a few little ties. Even the drill arm is very cool and metal so be careful. :) The LED Hypo is very cool too, looks great when its all lit up. Its kinda big, but cant say anything bad about it. For the price i got these two items it was a steal, best deal on Amazon!

Big Sister would be the female counterpart of the Big Daddy from the first Bioshock. According to packaging she's fast and agile with telekinetic powers. I'll mention here that what I have is the Toys R Us exclusive that comes with a Little Sister. But the Big Sister figure is the same.Sculpt wise she's pretty immaculate with little details like the many straps and buckles all sculpted on and rivets and spikes all over the place. There are several textures here all done well and realistically from metal to cloth to leather like material. It's a multilayered costume with braces, buckles, knobs and weapons (primarily two wrist harpoons) all present. Unfortunately, as a fellow reviewer has mentioned the left arm is a problem. Mine too came right off at a peg at the mid bicep and did not appear to be glued - although I find it hard to believe that it wasn't - or at least wasn't intended to be. Also you'd think that it would act as a cut joint just by looking at the arm but it is not, it's just a peg, and therefore I assume many people will rip this arm right off. It can easily be repaired with a drop of super glue but really that shouldn't have been needed and I wonder what the intent was (I think they may have been trying to accommodate the arm sculpt but created a bigger problem in doing so). This certainly knocks it out of 5 star status but there's still plenty of good here. The paint work is great with lots of colors present, gold, silver, black, light and dark browns, white, red, blue - and even minute details like the many little buckles are painted with minimal slop. Most of the metal areas sport a rusty worn look as well. Big Sis is pretty well articulated. The diver's helmet head has little to no up and down range but turns side to side fine. There's ball type shoulders and elbows and cut wrists. She's got an ab crunch joint, "V" style hips and a kind of limited ball/cut joint on the upper thighs. Lastly there are single pin knees (with the pins going through the braces as well) and single pin ankles (the braces are flexible down here). Her accessory is the air tank back pack with basket for Little Sisters. It pops on and off and looks really great with tons of detail in sculpt and paint. The sections are riveted together and the tank has a great metallic texture. It has a knob on the top and side. The basket is a simple gold basket but with several pink ribbons (put there for or by the Little Sisters I imagine). The tank has little drawings of fish and people scribbled on it by the Little Sisters which is a great touch (there's even a couple of fish drawn on the back of Big Sister's head too as a matter of fact). Note: I assume these drawings are present on the "regular" version but don't know for sure. Final thoughts... If not for the arm issue I'd be very tempted to give her 5 stars, but it is an issue and a common one apparently. On the other side the overall sculpt and paint quality is as high as I'd expect. I'm giving her 4 stars with the caveat that if it's going to bother you to have to glue one of her arms back together (although once you do no one will be able to tell) then the score will be lower for you. |
