Book Description

September 2005
9/11 ushered in an era of permanent war, rule-by-fear, illegal torture, and indefinite detentions—all justified by an attack that the Bush Administration claimed was a complete surprise. But as publisher of the critical Bush biography Fortunate Son, Sander Hicks had a unique position from which to cast a hard look at the official story around the attacks. With original research and interviews, his new book, The Big Wedding: 9/11, the Whistle-Blowers and the Cover-Up, provides a new level of proof that Bush’s advisors had detailed foreknowledge of 9/11. The Big Wedding examines the CIA’s controlling, client relationship with Pakistani intelligence, who had close, documented, under-reported links to the 9/11 terrorists. In Big Wedding, Hicks hits the road and in Florida, finds FBI whistle-blower Randy Glass, who documents how the FBI was warned by Pakistani intelligence three years before the attacks.

With the cumulative power of his original research into the neo-cons, the Bush family, the CIA, and Muslim Brotherhood, Hicks concludes: it’s impossible that the White House did not have detailed foreknowledge of 9/11. The ascendant neo-conservative agenda, under the leadership of Vice President Cheney and Secretary Rumsfeld, used Arab rage to solidify the U.S. stranglehold on the planet.

Hicks hands in startling revelations from government whistleblowers and top researchers, including lauded FBI Whistleblower Coleen Rowley, ATF Agent Steve Barborini, Mohamed Atta expert Daniel Hopsicker, CIA asset Brad Ayers, and Naval intelligence veteran (and colorful con-man) Delmart Vreeland.

"Imagine Henry Rollins meets the young Bob Woodward—a clean-cut, hard-as-nails punk with the reporting chops to take on an empire. Hicks is out to do nothing less than expose the planet's most insidious nexus: the jihadists, bankers, mercenaries, drug dealers, and so-called leaders who are currently pantomiming their way through a charade they've dubbed the ‘war on terror.’" —From the Foreword by Anthony Lappé, (True Lies)

Editorial Reviews

From Publishers Weekly

Soft Skull Press founder and 9/11 Commission Report critic Hicks argues for a "high degree of 9/11 foreknowledge on the part of the military/ intelligence complex" in this exhortation to disbelieve the Bush administration's "web of lies." The book marshals a bewildering array of sources and testimony—all filtered through Hicks's outraged sensibility—in an effort to implicate the U.S. government in the 9/11 attacks. Hicks identifies a compromised relationship between the CIA, the Bank of Credit and Commerce International and Pakistan's Inter-Services Intelligence, which, he asserts, has ties to al-Qaeda—thus the U.S. link to 9/11 and the government's relentless efforts to keep it concealed. Hicks relies on the research and testimony of numerous "rejected, truthful freelance mavericks," including Randy Glass, a jewelry con man and FBI informant who says he caught wind of threats to the World Trade Center in 1999; Daniel Hopsicker, an investigative journalist who argues that Mohammed Atta was a double agent; and Delmart Vreeland, a con man who claims he was a U.S. intelligence operative discredited for his 9/11 foreknowledge. Shocking exposé or gonzo conspiracy theory? This screed's credibility will depend on its readers' politics. (Sept.)

This review is from: The Big Wedding: 9/11, the Whistle Blowers, and the Cover-up (Paperback)
I never bought the weapons-of-mass-destruction-so-let's-invade-Iraq story, and I never saw a connection between 9/11 and Iraq. Obviously, according to the media and all the brainpower in Washington, I must have missed something. On the other hand, with the US body count close to 2,000, Iraq on the brink of civil war, and no WMD anywhere, perhaps I didn't.

The destruction of the Twin Towers of the World Trade Centre on 9/11 was a horrible, evil thing. I watched it--along with millions of other people--and wondered how could human beings do such a thing. Afterwards, I asked the question that occurred to everyone--how on earth did these people--these terrorists--slip by all the intelligence networks? If you had asked me then if I thought that this was an event that was ALLOWED to happen--I would have yawned and walked away--silently thinking that I was in the presence of one of the 'nut-fringe.' Well here it is four years later, and I've just finished reading "The Big Wedding: 9/11, The Whistleblowers, & The Cover-Up" by Sander Hicks. I read this book for 2 reasons: 1) I watched the excellent documentary "Horns and Halos", and found the kamikaze methods of publisher/journalist Hicks courageous, unusual and intriguing, and 2) I have some serious doubts about the event known as 9/11.

Given the nature, the scope and the audacity of the World Trade Center attack, it would be surprising if there were NO rumours circulating about an upcoming attack prior to 9/11. Hicks proves that not only were there rumours galore, but they were ignored and quite deliberately and calculatingly squashed.

In "The Big Wedding: 9/11, The Whistleblowers, & The Cover-up", Sander Hicks assembles a rogue's gallery of fringe-dwellers. There's Randy Glass (who appeared on Dateline)--a con man turned FBI/ATF informant. Glass claims that while working undercover on "Operation Diamondback" Pakistani arms dealer Rajaa Gulum Abbas bragged that the World Trade Center towers "are coming down." Glass forwarded warnings about the 9/11 attack to Senator Bob Graham, Head of Senate Foreign Intelligence. In an interview with Kathleen Walters from WPTV/NBC Graham admitted receiving information in July 01 about an attack on the World Trade Center from Glass.

Then there's Pakistani General Mahmood Ahmad who wired $100,000 to Mohamed Atta on September 10, 2001. Here's a juicy coincidence ... on September 11, Senator Graham and General Ahmad were in a joint meeting in New York as the Towers fell. And here's another coincidence pointed out by Hicks: "over 100 Mossad agents" were following Mohamed Atta and Marwan Al-Shehhi around the world until ... August 2001 when they were "quietly ejected from the country." What a coincidence and how very convenient.

Hicks convincingly continues to explore the "strange anomalies that surround 9/11" and reveals a constellation of warnings--including the names of FBI agents who "warned the White House that a specific attack was imminent." Hicks addresses the U.S military training of several of the hijackers, and the shady flight training company where the hijackers received their lessons. Hicks also interviews Delmart Vreeland--a pedophile/con man who achieved meteorite progress in the Navy and then disappeared off the radar. Vreeland claims he was an assassin, and his background certainly merits interest. Dismissed as a nutter, Vreeland penned a cryptic note about the 9/11 attack before it happened.

Hicks includes nice, tidy background info on the Taliban, Al-Qaeda and The Muslim Brotherhood. In addition there are references to several nasty bits of dirt--including The Monarch Programme and the BCCI (Bank of Credit and Commerce International). There's also a thorough index, and scrupulous footnotes (always appreciated by this reader). In "The Big Wedding: 9/11, The Whistleblowers, & The Cover-Up", Hicks shows that he's done his homework, and to say his evidence is disturbing is an understatement. Is there such a thing as coincidence, or is coincidence a series of events linked by unrevealed connections? Perhaps some of the evidence here can be reasoned and argued away, but can it all be dismissed? Read the book and decide for yourself--displacedhuman

5.0 out of 5 stars THE book to own on 9/11., September 29, 2005
This review is from: The Big Wedding: 9/11, the Whistle Blowers, and the Cover-up (Paperback)
I could write a ridiculously long about how good this book is, but I literally stayed up all night last night reading this thing and I'm pretty damn exhausted. I thought I would read a chapter to get a feel for it and then come back to it later. No way.

Sander Hicks gets the intel straight from people that were intimately involved in government operations leading up to 9/11 and KNEW what was going to happen and alerted the U.S. government in plenty of time to thwart the attacks. We know what happened next.

Hicks makes a complex web of government intrigue easy to understand. Governments and their intelligence agencies are constantly playing a high-stakes chess game and when they make the wrong move, or more accurately, get too greedy for their own good, a bunch of innocent people get killed and almost every time, the ones responsible get promoted and rewarded instead of the prison sentences they deserve.

Most books that investigate 9/11 have good info, but are boring as hell to read. I can say that with some authority because I have read ALL of them. Hicks' style is like no other. This book was actually exciting to read and there are details here that no other book on the subject can touch.

Make no mistake America- rogue elements of this government, which unfortunately reach all the way to the top and in numbers much larger than you would imagine, knew exactly when, where and how these attacks were going to go down and MADE SURE that they did. With the mainstream media that they practically control as an accomplice, an official myth was created and now it's too late for them to change their story. The good FBI agents that came forward and blew the whistle about how they were kept from stopping the attacks by their superiors have been completley shut out. The media is now along for the ride even if it ends up destroying us all, which it will if we don't act now.

The U.S. government, which has been completely corrupt for many decades, along with their corporate controllers have created a monster in the Middle East that they can no longer control, yet they will position themselves to exploit the havoc they wreak if it can advance their agenda.

The attacks gave Cheney's gang of homicidal maniacs of the "Project for the New American Century" the "new Pearl Harbor" they said they needed to begin the perpetual war that they were lusting after for 25 years. Go to their website and try to digest the insanity of the "Rebuilding America's Defenses" document that they published in September of 2000. The arrogant SOB's still have the nerve to leave it up on their website at:

http://www.newamericancentury.org/publicationsreports.htm

The "new Pear Harbor" is mentioned on page 51. The NeoCon's make it clear that they intend to dominate the planet, supposedly to make it a better, safer place. Of course, they leave out the fact that they're going to get filthy rich while attempting to do so.

Hicks touches upon the 9/11 Truth Movement, an underground movement of millions which I am proud to be a member of. We're not conspiracy theorists, just modern-day Paul Reveres yelling out to our fellow citizens that the enemy isn't on the way, they're already here and not just inside the gates but in full control. He makes a point who's time has come- The infighting over which exact scenario took place on 9/11 must stop. By the time we agree on every single specific detail of 9/11, there won't be anything left of this country and for that matter, the world, left to save.

I'm going to wrap this up, but there are massive amounts of info here that blew me away and I thought I knew everything. If you want to know who and what caused 9/11 to happen, and also how the pathetic joke of a puppet show known as "The 9/11 Commission" helped cover it up, get the book. If you want to know how the bureaucrats in charge of paying the victim's families tried to strong-arm them into taking the payoff (because once you take the money, you have to keep your mouth shut), get the book. Many of the widows didn't take the bribe and they're out there screaming it was an inside job and not a single mainstream news network wants to hear them. Hmm, I thought the "liberal mainstream media" jumped at every chance to make the Bush administration look bad. Yeah, keep believing that.

Get the book and educate others. Great work Sander. Keep it up.

Looks like my review ended up being ridiculously long after all. What can I say? This book is that good.

5.0 out of 5 stars Some Links from Sander, the Author, September 21, 2005

Hi Folks!

To get "inside the book" take a look at Chapter 9, on:

http://www.sanderhicks.com/chapter9.html

This is a key chapter on the confluence of racism, the Far Right, the Bush White House and international terror. What I am doing in this book is the writing of history, not opinion, not speculation.

Also, Lit Kicks has published a review, here's the link and first paragraph:

There are muckrakers out there, journalists who prod and poke and grope their way to the truth. And then there are a rare few who just break stuff. Sander Hicks, publisher of Vox Pop Books, is one of the most dynamic political troublemakers on the scene. Once he starts gnawing on a case -- whether it has to do with George Bush's sordid past or the relationships between the US government and foreign terrorist groups leading to 9-11 -- you know he's going to keep biting until something snaps, and something is revealed....
