This review is from: Big When Far Small When Close (Audio CD)
although truly impressive and overwhelming in it's scope and execution, Ex-Girl's accapella "Big When Far, Small When Close" is a hard album to fully get involved with. it's such a strange listening sensation that it can feel so alienating and wild. and therein lies the charm. with minimal musical background (usually none at all). these girls just let loose with their most challenging record ever. i doubt that this record gets alot of play at your next house party; but tracks like "Souvlaki" and "Disco 3000" are so stunning that they will undoubtledly find their place on compilation tapes you'll make for friends who may contain an appreciation for avant garde ideas in their musical tastes. a confounding and expansive recording that's worth repeated listens, although probably best absorbed in small doses.
