From School Library Journal
Adult/High School–Brownsworth's passion is rock climbing, but she's not one to turn down any new challenge, and she has surfed, biked, and sailed her way around the world. This book is her testament to the joys of pushing the limits in the vast outdoors. Trained as a physiotherapist, she works enough to make the money required to indulge her passion. The Australian-born author weaves together her adventures and mishaps in a chatty, humorous voice, and although the slang from Down Under may be unfamiliar at times, her warmth and enthusiasm for her subjects will keep even reluctant readers engrossed. Sixteen pages of photographs of Brownsworth and a motley assortment of traveling companions, complete with humorous captions, lend a scrapbooklike touch to the narrative.
Big World celebrates the possibility for adventure in each day, and it invites teens to view even seeming setbacks as opportunities. Although the book ends rather abruptly, Brownsworth leaves no doubt that, regardless of her ultimate destination, the journey will be unforgettable.
