5.0 out of 5 stars An all-time favorite., June 6, 2004

This review is from: Bigelow Constant Comment Classic Tea (2 Pack - 2 Large 28 Count Boxes) (Misc.)
I grew up in a family of tea drinkers; and although I now tend to have a lot of coffee while I'm at work, I still drink almost exclusively tea when I'm at home. I generally prefer loose leaf teas - that way I know I'll get "the real thing," whereas tea bags tend to contain merely the leftovers of a harvest; little crumbs too poor in aromatic and other content to otherwise pass quality control standards.

The exception are Bigelow teas: and first and foremost among those their flagship, Ruth Bigelow's original "Constant Comment" with its recipe of black tea, orange grind and holiday spices (primarily cinnamon). Created by Mrs. Bigelow on the basis of an old colonial recipe over half a century ago, the blend soon became so popular among her friends that their "constant comments" of approval prompted Ruth and husband David Bigelow to found their own tea company. Since then, "Constant Comment" has long become a true classic ... and if you love tea, it is indeed the perfect refreshment; whether or not it's Christmas time. (E.g., it also makes for great iced tea in summer; particularly if you add a bit of lemon.)

If you're making more than a single cup of tea, and unless you like your tea *very* weak, you may want to rethink the company's measuring directions - based on the the "one bag per cup" ratio, you'll likely need two or more bags for an entire pot (depending on size), even when steeping an extra minute or two. That said, though ... wanna come over for a cuppa?

5.0 out of 5 stars A Fanatic Java Fan Turns To Tea!, April 10, 2005
This review is from: Bigelow Constant Comment Classic Tea (2 Pack - 2 Large 28 Count Boxes) (Misc.)
I recently started drinking more tea, less coffee, and have become absolutely fascinated by the different varieties - where the teas are grown, (all teas are from the plant called 'camellia sinensis'), the size of the leaves, whether they're fermented or non, scented or not, red teas, white, green black, blends, etc.. I even bought a teapot...and, if I don't want more than a cup, I also purchased a tea press so I can watch while the leaves unfurl.

OK. I will stop obsessing about my most recent passion. One of the few times I will use a tea bag now is with an excellent blend like Bigleow's Constant Comment Classic Tea, an exotic, hearty, aromatic mix of fine black mountain-grown tea, flavored with rind of oranges and sweet spices. The blend is sweet enough so I don't have to add sugar, but others might prefer to do so. I have tried this tea in loose form and never seem to get the right flavor that I do with the tea bag.

R.C. Bigelow, Inc. is a family-owned company based in Fairfield, Connecticut that has been producing quality teas for 60 years. Apparently, only three family members know the secret formula for their flagship Constant Comment Classic Tea, which is brewed behind closed doors. Ruth Bigelow first created this fabulous secret mix in her kitchen years ago. This is the stuff murder mysteries are made of! Anyway, the tea is wonderful. It was a great favorite even when I drank four cups of coffee per day. Highest recommendations.

5.0 out of 5 stars TEA FOR TWO..., August 22, 2004
This review is from: Bigelow Constant Comment Classic Tea (2 Pack - 2 Large 28 Count Boxes) (Misc.)
This is a beautifully aromatic tea, redolent of the delicate scent of oranges and spices. The aroma is absolutely heavenly and is, in and of itself, enough to make one feel good. The tea is simply delicious, light and flavorful. One may sip it with or without milk, and one will enjoy it just the same. Each tea bag is strong enough to make two delightful cups of tea. Constant Comment is, undoubtedly, my favorite tea. It is no wonder to me that it is so popular.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent, February 3, 2006
This review is from: Bigelow Constant Comment Classic Tea (2 Pack - 2 Large 28 Count Boxes) (Misc.)
R.C. Bigelow, Inc. was begun in 1945 by Ruth Campbell Bigelow, a tea connoisseur who wanted to offer even more taste opportunities to American tea drinkers. Among the teas that Ruth blended up was an aromatic and highly flavorful mixture of black tea, orange rind and spices that she named "Constant Comment." Constant Comment is now one of the most popular specialty teas in America, and it is easy to see why!

Overall, I found this to be an excellent hot tea. You are first greeted with a full bouquet, and then receive a wonderful taste sensation. But, that's not all, Constant Comment also makes a great iced tea.

So, if you are looking for an exciting tea, one with a very different and yet truly enthralling flavor, then I recommend Bigelow's Constant Comment. (By the way, check out the interesting recipes on Bigelow's website!)

Ahhhh. Constant Comment. I was was first introduced to this tea 20 years ago at the age of 16 while working in my family's Christmas Gift shop. Constant Comment was sold in little tins decorated for Christmas. The smell of the steeping tea was heavenly and even now when I smell Constant Comment I think of Christmas. I began adding it to iced tea so that I could enjoy Constant Comment year round. For 2 quarts I use two family bags of ordinary tea and one or two Constant Comment standard bags. Constant Comment is strong quality tea so a little will go a long way. I love this fresh unique twist on traditional tea. I have more ideas on how to make a fresh glass of iced tea at inforeviewsandhowto.com

5.0 out of 5 stars Time goes by so slowly..., September 10, 2006
This review is from: Bigelow Constant Comment Classic Tea (2 Pack - 2 Large 28 Count Boxes) (Misc.)
This tea has just the slightest hints of orange zest and a little spice. It reminds me of when I used to go to Seattle to my grandmother's house and we would have tea and her famous apple pie. A relaxing tea you can drink with honey or with milk and sugar. Orange Blossom honey is recommended.
