About the Brand
Beginning the moment our founder, Ruth Campbell Bigelow created "Constant Comment"® Tea in her kitchen in 1945, our family has focused on just one thing trying to make the finest teas possible. Over the years we have introduced many new flavors as well as concepts in tea. Today we offer a selection of deliciously different blends of teas and green teas, a wide variety of herbal teas and teas flavored with real fruit juice. Today Bigelow Tea is the number one specialty tea company in the United States. And to think it all began with the first legendary black tea flavored with golden orange rind and sweet spice "Constant Comment"®Tea.
Bigelow takes immense pride in providing the tea drinking community with the best tea at a great value. We only use hand- picked teas, real spices, flavors and herbs. The flavors and blends we have created are second to none. Some of our teas contain up to twenty different ingredients! And because tea is a leaf that can dry out we take steps to protect it. To keep the teas fresh, we seal our tea bags in protective packets. We simply have to protect those delightful flavors. Thats why a cup of Bigelow Tea is aromatic and delicious; a true indulgence for the senses.

The Bigelow Organic Green Tea is unadulterated harmony. I switch to this tea from coffee at work at about 11am. No jitters, and something warm and comforting on my desk for the rest of the day. I find that I don't even need to remove the tea bag from my travel mug. The tea just grows deeper and more nuanced as it steeps longer and longer. This stuff is wonderful.
Each box contains ten hermetically sealed foil envelopes. There are four bags in each envelope. Tear one open, take out a bag, then fold over the envelope to keep the remaining bags fresh. You don't have to worry about the tea becoming desiccated. If you love smooth, natural tea, I think you'll like this green tea.
I ordered this tea for the 97 room hotel I work at, to put in the rooms. 240 bags of tea at an awesome price! However, when I opened the tea up, we found that while yes, there is 240 bags, they are packaged 4 bags to a pouch. Maybe I overlooked this in the description somewhere. I checked again but did not see that anywhere.
But now I know and hopefully this will help someone else. if you are looking for individually wrapped tea bags, do not get the 40 count box packs! Get the 20 count ones! (works out to be the same price)
Peppermint is a herb that naturally contains no caffeine. Quite often peppermint tea is consumed after meals as the oils in the mint stimulate the flow of bile to the stomach and helps to relieve gas pains. Additionally, peppermint sweetens the breath, calms the digestive system, eases heartburn, stomach ache and nausea. An interesting and tingling way to use peppermint is to place a handful of peppermint leaves in your bath water which will lower your body temperature - perfect for cooling fevered skin or after working on a hot summers day.
I highly recommend this product.

I am a big fan of herbal teas, especially to drink cold or to mix with a green, oolong, or white tea. My favorite fruit flavor is unquestionably pomegranate. Bigelow's Pomegranate Pizzazz is my favorite pomegranate herbal tea that can be found in-bulk, and for a very affordable price (I am also a huge fan of Twinings Pomegranate & Raspberry, but Pomegranate Pizzazz is my favorite.)
Like other herbal teas (other than mates), this tea does not contain caffeine (or actual tea, for that matter.) While pomegranate is listed as the primary flavor, Pomegranate Pizzazz also contains hibiscus, apple, and orange that are also noticeable flavors, and they compliment well with the pomegranate. This herbal also contains malic acid, and this helps enhance the pleasing 'tart' flavor notes that fruits have.
The flavor has both sweet and tart notes, in which the pomegranate is stronger than it is in many other pomegranate herbals I have had. It tastes great whether you drink it straight, add sugar, or combine it with other teas. When made into an iced herbal tea, it's a great drink to substitute soda or other sugared drinks as it can satisfy that sweet craving (which for me has been very beneficial since due to a health issue I have needed to reduce my sugar intake.) The color it brews to is a pleasing lighter red, and I have attached a picture to show this beautiful presentation color. Throw it into a pitcher with a few slices of lemon or lime and you have one heck of a nice presentation. This tea brews best with boiling water (rather than allowing it to cool slightly) since it maximizes the strength of the brew and it does not harm the flavor.Read more ›
Green tea is very good for health because of the abundance of catechins and flavinoids (antioxidant compounds) and has half the caffeine of black tea. Good Japanese green tea produces tea that is clear pale yellow-green, or very dark green, depending on the tea grade. These helpful chemicals, however, get mostly destroyed during roasting. Catechins are also responsible for the bright aroma and astringent taste of green tea, which is lacking in this product. With its brown leaf particles (see my photo comparison in gallery) and resulting brown liquid, Bigelow is more like hojicha, a roasted green tea. The flavor is very thin and I have to use 2 bags per cup of tea.
A much better quality tea is Kirkland Signature Green Tea Matcha Blend, 100% Japanese Tea Leaves, which is surprisingly good for a tea sold in non-specialty supermarkets. It is made by Ito-En, one of Japan's biggest beverage makers. I first heard about it because it is the tea used by staff at the Japanese Embassy in DC.
As for directions, the ideal temperature for green tea 70-80°C, NOT boiling (100°C) as the product description recommends. Sugar is seldom added to green tea, though it is frequently enjoyed cold.
