Book Description

When Harrison Kent suggests an outing to the dense forests of Colorado, his friends are all eager for a few days of fun and adventure. What awaits them, though, is far more than they ever bargained for.

They learn that Sasquatch is real, but these are not the shy creatures that legends speak of. A madness has claimed them, erasing their once peaceful nature and leaving in its place a ravenous horde of monsters that's about to descend upon the unsuspecting residents of a remote town.

The woods hold more than one secret, however. A low budget reality show is filming in the area and they have information that could even the odds. Harrison and his friends must make a desperate last stand against the rampaging beasts, but if they can survive long enough they might just be able to reclaim mankind's place atop the food chain.

"Rick is an exceptional writer with a real knack for flow, description and characterization." - The Indie Bookshelf (theindiebookshelf.blogspot.com)

From the Author

Jaws scared people away from the beaches. I want Bigfoot Hunters to make you afraid of your own backyard.

Bigfoot Hunters could be called a labor of twisted love. It's that dark place where my lifelong fascination with cryptozoology meets up with my love of a good old-fashioned monster rampage.

I had a ton of fun researching and writing this story. I sincerely hope you get as much enjoyment reading it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Why I keep Coming Back to Rick March 5, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
I will be honest. I did not read the description of this book before I dove in. It was by Gualtieri, who I had previously reviewed with Bill the Vampire, which was hilarious. I probably was expecting similar hilarity in this novel, and while a few good parts did make me laugh (anything involving Paula) this book was not meant for hilarity. It is first, and foremost, a horror. I hate the horror genre! Why am I reading this novel? Besides the aforementioned, it was by Rick Gualtieri. Well then...

Plot: Six teenagers go camping in the woods. Within the woods they encounter something that wants to destroy them apart. Sound like a campy horror movie plot? Sure, it is, but it's also done in a way that is not redundant. Enter the actual Bigfoot Hunters, a group of men that know the secret of these elusive creatures. Saying too much more gives away a few of the plot twists, which we know I'm not about doing. I despise spoilers. However, about 30% through I was wondering where the novel could possibly go from there and found that the six teenagers camping in the woods was just the prelude to the true horror.

Characters: There were quite a few characters in this novel, from the six teenagers, the four Hunters, and the townspeople surrounding the forest. Gualtieri surprised me with a few characters because they were not what I was expecting and the ending was not where I expected it to go. Every character has a unique quality, which is amazing considering that this is not a long novel.

Only complaints about this novel is what I normally would complain about in horror movies: body count. I have a bleeding heart at times during novels so it is rough for me to see a character I was rooting for die. Horribly.

5.0 out of 5 stars There are no words... July 14, 2012
By Eve
Format:Kindle Edition
Bigfoot is REAL!! Or at least in theory according to Rick Gualtieri's latest horror book. Bigfoot Hunters is written in 3rd person POV and is very reminiscent of Mary Shelly's Frankenstein. He get's you inside the mind of the Alpha Bigfoot via italicized excerpts. It's truly fascinating.

Being a girl, horror isn't generally something I read (not that they're aren't girls who LOVE this stuff, but I'm sure the majority of horror fans are male). Anyhow, this was actually my first go at it and I'm so happy I took the chance. Rick is an exceptional writer with a real knack for flow, description and characterization.

The book focus' on a group of young adults who set out on a camping/hiking trip in the mountains. Things go awry when they get attacked by an angry Sasquatch who has separated from his clan. Just when you think he has nowhere to go with his story after unexpectedly ending the first climatic scene, he unleashes a fury of death and destruction I never thought possible. And the root of it all will make you laugh, sigh and think WOW, that is totally plausible if and this is a big IF, Bigfoot were real.

When reviewing this book from my own personal eyes, the only thing that makes it fall short is its lack of a romance. Was there some crazy lust scenes added in for dramatic affect? Yes. Did they make we want to turn the pages like a Nicholas Sparks novel? No. Is it stupid of me to want this from a horror novel? I don't think so.

Why....?

Well, for starters if horror novelists want to tap into a new market and gain new readers then they better start including something for the ladies. I would definitely be a repeat customer of Rick's if he even just gave me the slightest romance on the side.

5.0 out of 5 stars Cryptozoology at It's Best! July 5, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Wow! I never heard of this author and sort of stumbled across this book while poking around for alittle crypto with my morning coffee. This book just never stops, and I couldn't stop reading it. Having just finished a James Rollins (for full, big name author price) I decided I was in the mood for some more monster/thriller genre (at reasonable cost). Author Rick Gualtieri delivered the perfect solution. I've never seen a Sasquatch but have a high school friend who damm near totaled her car in northern CA trying to avoid hitting one crossing the road. So I decided to give it a try. The premise was well thought out, and the reasons given for the Sasquatchs rampaging simple and, dare I say, plausible. Give it a try.

5.0 out of 5 stars Big Foot Hunters June 4, 2012

Holy Crap! What a great read. I love a good Big Foot novel but this one blew me away. The action was faced paced , grapic and gory, all the while twisting and turning through a spiderweb of actual plot lines. Good plot lines at that. Hollywood needs to take notice of this book turn it into a movie before some one else grabs it up. I cannot reccoment this book enough. I find myself readjusting in my chair frequently due to the action in this novel. Read it, you will love it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Five out of Five stars! August 14, 2014
Format:Kindle Edition
Bigfoot Hunters by Author Rick Gualtieri is a crypto horror novel that follows a group of young adults that run into a clan of animals thought only to be legend. Bigfoot is real, and it's pissed off!

The set-up to the story is an age-old concept: a group of college kids, nothing more on their minds than getting laid and having fun, set out for a week long camping trip. Unfortunately though, things turn sour quickly as a rabid Bigfoot comes crashing into them - literally. The only reason they survive their first encounter is because the stars of a famous TV show come to their aid, proving to be more than just cryptozoologists. But that doesn't matter, as the bliss of surviving the first attack distracts them enough to allow to rest of the Bigfeet to come in and mess things up!

Being a huge fan of Rick Gualtieri's THE TOME OF BILL series, I knew I'd love this book before even reading the synopsis - and I was not wrong!

Author Rick Gualtieri sets the stage for a truly horrific massacre; the once peaceful creature known as Bigfoot stomping a bloody trail through a small country town. I never thought Bigfoot could be this scary! But thanks to this book, I'm staying clear of any camping sites for a while...

More About the Author

Rick Gualtieri loves to write adventure, mayhem, and snarky dialogue. His bestselling Tome of Bill series combines all of this into a world of supernatural danger with hard-hitting action and plenty of sharp-tongued geeky humor.

Rick lives alone in a dark, evil place called New Jersey with only his wife, three kids, and countless pets to both keep him company and constantly plot against him. When he's not busy monkey-clicking out words, he can typically be found jealously guarding his collection of vintage Transformers from all who would seek to defile them - Defilers Beware!
