Carrie Carmichael, author of Bigfoot: Man,Monster, Or Myth?, attempts to convince the youthful reader that Bigfoot (Sasquatch) is real. Carmichael reviews accounts of encounters with Bigfoot in the US, including accounts of an Albert Ostman (who was allegedly kidnapped by a Sasquatch family for a week), a tale retold by none other than President Teddy Roosevelt about another person's experience, and Patterson and Gimlin's Sasquatch filming adventure.

Carmichael concludes, "Killing a Sasquatch is not a smart idea. It's too big a chance to take. 'What if we only kill one,' said one small child, 'and it was the only one left?' Destroying something to prove it exists doesn't make any sense. The Bigfoot searchers should go on looking for this rare breed. Someday all the answers may be known about the Bigfoot. Today the creature remains an unsolved mystery" (p. 48).

This book was published in 1977. So more than 30 years later, there has really been no change in the general Sasquatch mystery. No body. Please don't hurt the remaining Sasquatch. The people who see Sasquatch and its tracks are those who go out looking for it.

For a review of the current research behind the mystery, I recommend Sasquatch: Legend Meets Science, by Jeff Meldrum.
