5.0 out of 5 stars Yep . . . . . THEY STILL GOT IT!!, June 5, 1999
This review is from: Bigger Than the Devil (Audio CD)
I didn't expect "Bigger Than The Devil" to come close to "Speak English or Die" (Won't SOMEBODY please re-release that album on CD??), but it blew me away nonetheless. DEFINITELY looking forward to seeing them live, as the new material is as offensive and non P.C. as the last album. My only complaint is that there aren't enough ballads on there. All the more reason to see 'em live. Best tracks are "Monkeys Rule", the title track, "The Song that Don't go Fast", and the classic "Aren't you Hungry", an original S.o.D. tune re-made by M.o.D. and includes the riff from Anthrax's "Imitation of Life" which Charlie stole from Billy when he wrote it. Sped up and heavier, it brings back great memories of thrash and grindcore before (c)rap "metal" took over. BUY IT NOW and see them LIVE!! Then, and only then, will you find out whatever happened to Celtic Frost . . . .

5.0 out of 5 stars Kill The A**holes!!!!, June 26, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Bigger Than the Devil (Audio CD)
In an age of feel good crap from Brittany Spears, Spice Girls, Back (door) Street Boys, and whoever else casts themselves an angel, S.O.D. comes out full steam ahead and shows us what hard rock, metal and thrash are all about. Thank God the guys decided to pick it up again, and I hope they'll not wait another 15 years to churn out the next one. Best hardcore thrash I've heard in years. Scott Ian has done great re-engergizing himself after a mild effort on Anthrax's Vol. 8. Charlie still hasn't missed a beat, Dan Lilker looks crazier than ever, and Billy Milano can outscream Pantera's Phil Anselmo any day!!! Keep up the good work guys, and don't wait so long on the next one!!!!!! Kill the a**holes!!!!!!!!!

This review is from: Bigger Than the Devil (Audio CD)
if you liked Speak English Or Die, you will probably dig this album. yeah, there are some subtle differences. the guitar sound isn't the same classic 80's thrash metal tone that made Scott Ian's rhythm playing famous. it's a little more sludgy. also, Billy Milano's vocals are a little meaner sounding with a lower, throaty growl compared to the S.E.O.D. album. but overall, the S.O.D. spirit is still there. the songs are still great, they're still heavy, funny, and offensive. probably one of the best metal albums of 1999. you may or not agree, but it has to be at least the best album on Nuclear Blast records that came out in '99.
