5.0 out of 5 stars I love this book!
This is the cutest book I've read in a long time, and my daughter loves it. Its the story of a Co-Sleeping family and the daddy's quest for more room to sleep. He builds the biggest bed in the world, and when that doesn't work out, he builds individual beds for all of the children in another room - only to find out he can't sleep without them because he's lonely...

3.0 out of 5 stars Pretty good, but not fabulous
It may be that my daughter is still too young to really appreciate this book. She likes it, but it is not one of her faves. It is very sweet and is one of the few books available for children who share the family bed.

This is the cutest book I've read in a long time, and my daughter loves it. Its the story of a Co-Sleeping family and the daddy's quest for more room to sleep. This book captures the joys and tribulations of co-sleeping families perfectly. We all sometimes wake up with a foot in our face and think "why are we doing this?" - but waking up all snuggled up with our children is one of life's sweetest moments. This book captures it in a funny, delightful, and heartwarming way!

5.0 out of 5 stars A Children's Book of Co-Sleeping!, August 19, 2000
This review is from: The Biggest Bed in the World (Hardcover)
I stumbled upon this book in the library yesterday and immediately came online to order copies for all my friends. This book provides a fun (and truthful) look at co-sleeping families. As children are added to the family (and the bed), dad decides that to get some sleep he must get a bigger bed. At some point he becomes frustrated with the arrangement and puts the children in their own beds only to discover that he misses them and can't sleep without them. Families who practice this form of parenting will love seeing it in print. As a co-sleeping parent, I easily relate to the dad in this book. I agree that sometimes this sleeping arrangement is frustrating, but those times never outweigh the warmth and closeness that we share with our children during sleep. I'm so grateful there's a book that portrays that, and thrilled to see breastfeeding represented in the illustrations, as well. Note to Amazon: link this book to all the William Sears' and La Leche books, not to mention Tine Thevenin's The Family Bed and you'd sell lots!

5.0 out of 5 stars Family Bed AND Breastfeeding, February 23, 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: The Biggest Bed in the World (Hardcover)
A lovely book, beautiful drawings, funny story. The family bed keeps getting bigger with each additional baby, until the bed is so big it falls out of the house. Dad decides they'll now sleep separately but misses everyone too much, and they all end up back together in the big happy family bed. One drawing shows mom breastfeeding, other illustrations show her holding a baby with her shirt unbuttoned, as though just done or about to breastfeed. How heartwarming to see a mainstream publisher put out a book highlighting attachment-parenting practices. I hope other authors, illustrators, and publishers will soon follow suit. I found only one tiny drawing of a bottle, and it's being thrown to the floor. (I wonder if a nervous editor forced the illustrator to stick that in, since it's well known that bottles are detrimental to the breastfeeding relationship.) If you like A Teeny Tiny Baby by Amy Schwartz, you'll love this book.

5.0 out of 5 stars Loved it!!, October 5, 2003

Love this book - and appreciate the humorous honesty that is implied in the book. We are a co-sleeping family, and wouldn't have it any other way, but it does have its moments when I am squished and uncomfortable!!! I love that the daddy in this book feels annoyed, but in the end realizes that he wants his kids right where they belong!! Right next to him!! I recommend this book to any co-sleeping family!! My kids just ADORE it, and my 3 year old is ready to build her own "biggest bed in the world!!!" hhehehe

5.0 out of 5 stars Not just for co-sleepers, February 27, 2001
This review is from: The Biggest Bed in the World (Hardcover)
I also stumbled upon this book at the library and it has become my sons new Favorite. This book is about one familys search for the perfect bed when all the children decide to sleep with their parents; something all parents can relate to. I loved the illustrations in this book, they depict a truer vision of day to day life in a family with many kids. Not only do all the children decide they like their parents bed but all the family pets sleep there too. I thouroughly enjoyed this book and do not believe it to be only for co-sleeping familys since we do not pratice that arrangement.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fun to read, December 7, 2003
This review is from: The Biggest Bed in the World (Hardcover)
This book is adorable and fun to read. Dad just can't make up his mind, as more babies are added to the family it is becoming more difficult for him to sleep - he builds the bed bigger and bigger and bigger. The results of having the biggest bed in the world are amusing. Then Dad is hard at work again, bunking the kids in another room only to find it difficult to sleep without them. This is a fun 'snuggly' book full of beautiful illustrations.

I bought a bunch of books that had AP themes and this one is by far my favorite. It is just wonderful. Has the co-sleeping and how it is great for the whole family as well as breastfeeding shown as normal. If you are an AP parent you have to have this book. Warning...it is to funny for bedtime.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Book For All Who Share a Family Bed, March 30, 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: The Biggest Bed in the World (Hardcover)
This is a "must have" for any family that shares afamily bed. When I read it to my children, 4 and 2, they laughed atthe pictures and I filled with tears at how wonderfully the author captures my feelings of frustration at times to share my bed but also knowing that like the dad, I would not be able to sleep without them in bed with me. The second time we read the book we talked about our own experiences with the family bed and how we had to add to our bedsize. My four year old thought until reading this book that we had the biggest bed in the world. He is now interested in tearing down a few walls so we can make our bed larger also. END
