Just in time for the opening of fishing season we are treated to this glorious book, recounting a small girls'experience catching her first fish. It has all the elements of a childrens classic, just waiting for someone to read and show it to a future fishing buddy. I say read and show because the illustrations are works of art in their own right. In this second collaboration between Carney and Wilson the real winners are the children lucky enough to have a parent or grandparent that will sit and share this very good book with them. It should find a place in every librarys' childrens section. I bought seven copies, one for each of the grandchildren and two for the local librarys.

This review is from: The Biggest Fish in the Lake (Paperback)
This book is very well done!!! The illustrations are breathtaking. We have a northwoods Wisconsin cabin and Grandpa often takes our boys fishing. We have a copy of this book at our cabin and it is easily a favorite with our children and all those that visit us as well. Highly recommend this book for those who enjoy the hobby of fishing!!! In fact, Grandpa just bought each of the boys a bait that matches the one that catches the "biggest fish in the lake" in the story from the local bait store up north. I will say that our boys have noticed one thing about the illustrations... the watercolor of the muskie that the girl catches appears to look more like a northern pike. This does not distract from the excitement of this book. They have come to laugh about it!
