While the first few pages offer some great educational information, the rest of the book is not quite as useful. Information about specific issues, while listed in the index, is vague and more along the lines of one of the contestants personal opinion. Information is hard to dig out in many cases. Taken from the TV show The Biggest Loser, where people lose weight and change their lives, this book gives you the "success secrets" the show's participants used to transform their bodies. This book reveals the contestant's insights and how they personally overcame their cravings, resistance to exercise, and desire to revert back to old lifestyle habits. They also describe how they kept going during plateaus and into maintenance. Along with diet and exercise tips and daily lifestyle habits, the book has the contestant's testimonials and photos. The contestants are generous with their stories, victories, and advice in their testimonials and quotes that are scattered throughout the book. You get the feeling they want to help others through struggles and onward to weight-loss victory.

The book instructs you to keep a daily journal of what you eat as well as what exercise you do. The diet is based on calorie control and has 3 main meals and 2 snacks. A typical day's menu is: one egg with turkey bacon for breakfast; cherries, cottage cheese, and almonds for morning snack; a spinach salad with skinless chicken breast and half an apple for lunch; Greek-style plain, fat free yogurt with blueberries for a snack; and grilled salmon with steamed quinoa and broccoli and a peach for dinner. If you want recipes, you need to get the "Biggest Loser Cookbook". The Biggest Loser plan itself is described in "The Biggest Loser: The Weight Loss Program to Transform Your Body, Health, and Life--Adapted from NBC's Hit Show". This book focuses more on motivation and techniques rather than nuts and bolts diet and exercise.

We all know that the key to weight loss success is motivation and managing the mind. This book does a great job of reminding us of this truth. The book mentions a "moment" and "triggering event" that finally pushes people over the edge and awakens their desire to lose weight even if it means making substantial changes in their life and giving up their comfortable but bad habits. The book affirms that the key to weigh loss is managing our mind and behavior, not just eating and exercise. The testimonials in the book are heartfelt and inspiring. The Biggest Loser Success Secrets is great because it has testimonials, photos, and baby steps to follow to inspire a person to success. You can easily open the book, look at a before and after photo, and be fired up again to stick to your diet and exercise. Huge successes all happened with daily faithful habits that snowballed into major changes. This isn't a book you have to read cover to cover, just pick it up and LOOK at it. Most anyone should be able to look at the photos, quick tips, habits to cultivate, and say, "if they can do it, I can do it." I think one of the biggest appeals is that these successes are everyday people like you, me, us, and our families and friends, NOT superstars or supermodels.

The book is good reference to keep with you for bedtime or early morning inspiration. Keep one in the lunchroom at work too--great way to keep all the dieters motivated. This one's a keeper!

The television show motivated my own weight loss program. It took 1 year for me to lose 103 pounds & reach my current(and final)weight of 133. I just bought the book and found MANY great weight loss tips. It is great fun to look thru it & find my favorite "contestants." There are recipes that the contestants wrote themselves. (No foolish ingredients, like 1/2 cup leeks or 1 teaspoon plum sauce. What do you do with the rest of the leek?) Many, many tips are listed. Some tips from the members & some from the trainers. It is the kind of book that I like to thumb through while eating lunch at work. (Husband calls it "bathroom" reading.) I would recommend the book to anyone who needs a little inspiration with their weight loss plan.

Having watched the show the last two seasons and enjoying familiarity with the persons in the book has helped me tremendously. I have lost 15 pounds since purchasing, reading and implementing the tools in this book, I have plenty more to go and intend to coninue to use the tools in this book. I don't think it would have made as big an impression had I not been a Biggest Loser viewer..that makes a difference to be sure...but if you are a viewer and want to lose weight the BL way...this book is terrific!

This book is FANTASTIC!!! I am a big fan of the show and have recently begun my own weight loss journey. I bought this after seeing it advertised on the show. I read it in 2 days. This book is VERY motivating and I will recommend it to everyone!

I joined the gym about 2 months ago and alos have been working out at home with beachbody programs. However, I've always had a hard time controlling my food intake so i was not losing. However, this book helped me to look @ food in a new light, so that I am able now to make better choices. I guess it broke a mental barrier for me. Overall its a good book with lots of tips and it will definatly motivate you to lose weight.

I was hoping for a little more depth into what actually happens at the Ranch on a day to day basis, you know like from the first day on. What time do the contestants have to hit the gym, how many hours do they actually spend working out, what is the actual routine, do they have in house cooking lessons, how often to they actually meet with the doctors, what they can or can not do with their personal time? Very dissapointing!

I really liked this book. It gave a lot of helpful insight to what the people experience on The Biggest Loser. I liked that it gave some of the behind the scenes that we don't see on the show. Like, there are temptations around for them to not give into. The people in the book also shared their own personal weaknesses and struggles, on and off the show, and how they overcome them. This is an awesome book to read to help you through a rough patch you may hit if you are trying to lose weight and/or live a healthier lifestyle. There were many tips and suggestions from Jillian and Bob as well about food choices, work out suggestions and encouragement to not give up. And the author explained different things throughout the book about how our bodies work and react to the weight loss and when we hit plateaus, etc. You won't be disappointed in this book!

This book has proven really inspirational to me. It has a lot of things about fitness and nutrition that you would never know had you not read this. This book has lots of large colored photos, and is really organized compared to the other Biggest Loser books I have by the same author. FIVE STARS!

If you are a fan of the NBC reality show The Biggest Loser, you will love this book. It gives you insight into the weight loss successes of several of the shows contestants and the how-to behind their triumphs.

Even if you aren't a fan of the show, you will find great diet and fitness tips. The chapter on pushing through a plateau was very helpful to me personally, as I've been finding it difficult to lose weight the past few months.

I recommend this for anyone serious about weight loss and fitness.
