I LOVE this book!!,
This review is from: Biggest Book of Soups and Stews (Better Homes & Gardens Cooking) (Plastic Comb)
I bought this book and started making soups right away. I marked so many soups the first day I got the book. It has such a great variety and has more recipes for soups than any other book I have found.
The only drawback to the book is that there is not one picture. I loke to have a visual of what the finished product should look like and there are no photos at all in this book. One thing I like is that at the top of each recipe they have a description of the soup. Every recipe I have made has turned out perfectly.

Excellent books of soups, especially slow-cooker recipes!,

I recently bought this book and have never owned a book of soups and stews before. I love soup & using a slow cooker. The bonus chapter on slow cooker soups is my favorite. This is a worthwhile book, well worth the price and a genuine resource for cooking for my family and taking food to work potlucks. My favorites so far are from Chapter 6 Slow Cooker Favorites and include the "Easy Cassoulet Soup," p. 355, which is a delicious blend of chicken, turkey sausage, beans, tomatoes, etc. in a wonderful comforting chicken broth. I also liked the "Cheese Enchilada Chowder," p. 374 which was creamy and spicy. I actually ate leftovers for lunches & dinners for two days after and didn't get tired of it. These two soups would be great for potlucks. I also liked the "Easy Potato & Salmon Chowder," p. 368. It was slightly fishy with pouch salmon, but overall very flavorful even for people who don't normally like fish soups. The only one I tried my family didn't enjoy was "Teriyaki Beef Noodle Soup," p. 328. It was not a terikyaki flavor, more soy-sauce tasting, and too much red pepper for our tastes. I plan to try many more recipes out of this book and have been making soup for a long time. Finally there is a book that is unique with recipes in a format that is easy-to-read and does include some color photos, which another reviewer said were not included. The binding is a spiral comb that's really nice to keep open on the counter or cookbook holder. It also includes nutritional analysis of each recipes, which some books lack. Intro: Soup Basics Chapter 1 Cold & Hot Side-Dish Soups Chapter 2 Hearty Soups Chapter 3 Chowders & Bisques Chapter 4 Chilies Chapter 5 Stews & Ragouts Chapter 6 Slow Cooker Favorites Chapter 7 Salads & Breads Index and Measuring Information

There are so many wonderful soup recipes in this book I have bought three copies, giving two as gifts. It has a number of different recipes I haven't seen in other books. I highly recommend it.
